Http://bookmooch.com/. Put them into your collection, earn points when someone wants it. Use the points to get books you want. I built a really great library that way. You can also donate your points to prisons and other centers that have libraries. Source: about 3 years ago

  • Thoughts on a different way to give gifts to your S/O.
As an alternative to finding a brick-and-mortar library to donate the book to, there are also online book trading options like Paperback Swap or Bookmooch (both of which I have used extensively in the past). Additionally there is BookCrossing, which lets you simply leave a book anywhere to be found by a stranger, and even track where it travels afterward. Source: over 3 years ago
  • Your dream app
Thereโ€™s also http://bookmooch.com/ with a similarly ancient aesthetic. I havenโ€™t used it in years but it was fun when I did. Source: over 3 years ago

  • Little Free Library
I remember this site called http://bookmooch.com (it still exists!) where I used to regularly swap books with others. The site operates on the same concept: you list your books, and then mail them out when someone requests them of you, and of course, you are also free to request books from other members of the site. I used to be an avid user (and braved many a visit to the Post Office to mail out books), but sadly... - Source: Hacker News / over 3 years ago
  • Is there a book swap/ thrift shop app
There is also BookMooch, which I have never used - a friend used it years ago and liked it, but again that's with the caveat that I have no idea what it looks like recently. They do have a nice feature where you can see what books were recently posted, so you get a sense of who's active and what's up there. Source: about 4 years ago

  • Ask HN: Where should I buy my next book?
Http://bookmooch.com/ It's a great way to trade your books with others. And you can pick and choose from others' collections. Plus it's a good way to get rid of any extra books you have lying around. - Source: Hacker News / over 4 years ago
  • Where to buy books in French?
Lastly, I have had some success with other language books with BookMooch: http://bookmooch.com/. It's not new books, but sometimes they do have other language books. Source: almost 5 years ago
  • I'd like to do something about sustainability, and I've always had this pet project in mind involving barcodes. Am I out of my gourd?
(So I'm in IT but I want to move more into engineering, I've been thinking more about going to get my BS.) Anyway, my idea is to build some sort of app where people can scan things they're about to throw away and people can find them and use them. And that requires some computer vision/recognition or barcode database. Because computer vision is far away at this point, I'm interested in learning about bar codes and... Source: almost 5 years ago
