Mind you between airlines and hotel websites, services like booking.com or airbnb, tripadvisor, klook etc its gotten easier and easier and easier to not only pre book things but pre pay for everything, including guides and entrance fees. So if you know a year ahead of time your exact dates, book everything and pay for it then the $4k you saved for the trip becomes your spending money for the trip. But most... Source: over 2 years ago
Others, try using Hotel.com and booking.com in advance, but they are not guaranteed rooms, and almost every year I see people trying to argue with the front desk that they have a reservation. If a hotel is sold out, and you find a room on a 3rd party website, you are responsible for your own misery. Source: over 2 years ago
Use booking.com I found a good rate last admin . I forgot my darn hotel though I wont lie lmao that whole week is a blur I can check my email though . Source: over 2 years ago
I was planning on listing on houfy and VRBO just because there is no upfront cost so why not? Is there any reason not too? Is there any reason to try booking.com? There are a few other sites I checked out but none of them were even really operating in my area. Source: over 2 years ago
I'm getting 166k from Airport to monkey forest in Ubud on booking.com. Source: over 2 years ago
I think this general rule of thumb applies to most travel, eg booking hotels through booking.com vs marriott.com. Source: over 2 years ago
It seems like every day in this sub I see another 5 discussions on booking.com issues. I always prepay. I skip on to something else if it only allows pay at the property. I feel like if I haven't paid I haven't ensured a reservation and I don't want any check in issues with them giving me a price different that what I booked. Source: over 2 years ago
Not to mention the fact that is has no benefits, Stays and Flights are 50-60% more expensive than booking.com or skyscanner. Source: over 2 years ago
Finally they responded and says it is "accomodation fee of 5% of total amount" but it is not anywhere in the booking.com :/. Source: over 2 years ago
I tried to contact them they didn't answered yet. Also initiated Customer Service chat in booking.com so far no reply. Source: over 2 years ago
I experienced this with BDO two days ago, when booking via the Agoda app. I did not expect a foreign transaction fee, since a few weeks ago, I booked some hotels with Agoda using my BPI CC and the amount shown when I paid was the exact amount shown in the SOA. All my previous hotel bookings with booking.com was paid with BPI as well, and there were no additional charges. Source: over 2 years ago
Sheesh, that message from booking.com CS sounds like what a scammer would write -- full of grammatical mistakes. I would definitely NOT make payments outside of booking.com. Source: over 2 years ago
I know this page is for Airbnb but I can't find a page that talks about booking.com and I have my apartment on both cites, please help me! Source: over 2 years ago
Yep, booking.com for me only, I never take the risk of a hostel or an airbnb, sure it's more expensive but I seriously value comfort and quiet on a trip. Source: over 2 years ago
Its just what it says on booking.com. If I go to the cancellation section it states there is a $370-ish fee to cancel, rooms non refundable. I paid for 2 nights in full a few weeks ago so im guess its just a broad statement in case someone's card hasnt been charged yet? Source: over 2 years ago
Used booking.com. Sadly got sick and cant go but its been paid in full weeks ago. Cancellation fee is $300+. "If you don't show up or cancel, applicable taxes may still be charged by the property" would this be the best option? They have the option to message the home owners for "reduced" cancel fee but I feel like since I've already booked the 2 days and paid, not showing up shouldn't make much of a difference... I had completely dropped the idea of staying in one of the lake rafts because I could only find crazy expensive ones on Booking.com, but I see now there are a few with reasonable prices. Found the guide I think: https://www.reddit.com/r/suratthani/comments/b0o4fa/khao_sok_guide_by_suratthaniexpats/. Source: over 2 years ago
So why am I now getting a message from the property manager that I booked with stating that they will be charging me $1746? Does booking.com not include taxes and other hidden fees? How in the world would I know what these fees are if they aren't listed anywhere? BTW I'm not ordering any additional supplements such as an extra bed. Source: over 2 years ago
Check out Palm Springs condos. .there are a few in town, near Nimman. -- I booked for 2 weeks with booking.com. Newer builds with great amenities (most rooms have balcony and washing machines, and pool and gym access) , close to Maya and Nimman One, plenty of food/grocery options in the area, plus easy access to activities, as its at a primary road intersection. . . Always check on tripadvisor. Agoda is great as well. Have no luck with booking.com, mostly scam there since not many vietnamese actually use booking.com. Source: over 2 years ago
As of late 2023, Booking.com remains a prominent player in the digital travel industry, providing a broad array of services that cater to various travel needs. With competitors like Airbnb, Tripadvisor, and Expedia, Booking.com holds a distinctive position due to its extensive reach and diverse offerings. Here's a nuanced exploration of public opinion, gathered from recent discussions and mentions in articles.
Booking.com is praised for its service versatility. The platform is renowned for its exhaustive range of accommodations, from campgrounds to five-star hotels. Its capabilities extend beyond just lodging, including flight bookings, car rentals, and airport transfers. The "book now, pay later" feature, along with free cancellation policies, reflects its commitment to flexibility and customer convenience. This adaptability makes it a preferred choice for various travelers, from budget-conscious tourists to business professionals needing invoicing support.
Price competitiveness is a notable strength. The platform's low-price guarantee, allowing refunds if a cheaper rate is found elsewhere, highlights competitive pricing as one of Booking.com's selling points. According to user reviews and comparisons, Booking.com often uncovers deals that outshine rivals such as Airbnb and Hotels.com, especially for urban accommodations priced under $200 per night.
User interface and search functionality receive mixed reviews. While many appreciate the extensive filtering options, such as those for properties with swimming pools, some users find the layout and interaction initially daunting. However, the broad availability of filters is generally viewed positively, offering users the capability to narrow down extensive property listings effectively.
Several users report issues with reservation and payment processes. Experiences with room availability and billing discrepancies have led to dissatisfaction for some users, especially involving unexpected additional charges and challenges during the reservation confirmation phase. While the platform provides comprehensive customer support, response times and resolutions can vary, occasionally contributing to frustration among users.
There appears to be a loyalty factor, albeit with occasional trust issues. Booking.com's established reputation and expansive network foster brand loyalty; however, concerns regarding transaction transparency and hidden fees can challenge this trust. Additionally, some users express wariness about potential scams, with caution advised around payment processes not handled directly through the site.
Booking.com competes robustly with other travel giants. As part of the Booking Holdings group, the platform benefits from synergies with other entities like Kayak and Agoda, enhancing its market reach and service integration. Booking.com's expansive global presenceโhosting millions of listings across more than 230 countriesโappeals to travelers seeking diverse accommodation options without geographical constraints.
Overall, while Booking.com features prominently as a major digital travel service provider, offering extensive options and competitive pricing, users are advised to remain vigilant about additional fees and verify reservation details promptly. Its adaptability and comprehensive service range secure its position at the forefront of the travel booking sector, although continuous improvement in user experience and transaction clarity would further strengthen consumer confidence and satisfaction.
