Hi all! We are glad to inform you that today we are announcing our project at the world's first crypto-forum: bitcointalk.org. Source: about 1 year ago
  • I made an early 2000s-inspired internet forum
Https://bitcointalk.org/ is still running SMF and looks pretty old school. - Source: Hacker News / about 1 year ago
  • early BTC?
The bitcoin forum was the most common place to discuss bitcoin in 2010. The bitcoin forum was originally a sourceforge forum back in 2009. Then it was hosted at bitcoin.org and here is an old archive of it. The bitcoin forum eventually migrated to https://bitcointalk.org in 2011. Source: over 1 year ago
  • We Don't Give Up On Web2 to a Censorship-free, Open Web 3 - We Are Devcoin
MarkM who doesn't really lurk on many places besides oddly enough - wink - Messenger (yes Facebook messenger - please do not bother him) and Keybase.io/knotwork and bitcointalk.org as "markm"... He's on Discord occassionally in the Devcoin server and you can find those channels listed at devcoin.org or easier if you look at the info for our t.me/devcoins Telegram. Source: over 1 year ago
  • How do I short sell cryptocurrencies without brokerage?
Since 2009, bitcoin purchase and sale transactions have taken place on specialized resources like the bitcointalk.org forum or in person. After the advent of centralized exchanges, this way of trading cryptocurrency became over-the-counter or OTC. Source: over 1 year ago
  • The Platformer #25: High-Impact Hacking
This project, called YaBB — Yet another Bulletin Board (I’ve always been good at naming things) — is pretty much dead. A few months ago the website was still up, but it appears to be down now. Yes, the project was forked into YaBB SE (a direct PHP port), and ultimately evolved into Simple Machines Forum, which still seems to be under development today (and powers Bitcoin Talk — if you’re still into the crypto thing). - Source: dev.to / over 1 year ago
  • NeoNomad Weekly Wrap - Episode 4
We have made updates to our Bitcointalk.org page https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5375960.msg58655883#msg58655883. Source: almost 2 years ago
  • A 2014 guide to buy the dip
It was late summer 2014 and the crypto market was experiencing its first major meltdown. MtGox was the word on everyone's lips and the people who bought BTC at $500 were contemplating leaving the market forever. While perusing bitcointalk.org searching for a glimpse of hope, I came across a post in the Marketplace board accumulating 1000+ views in an hour or so. Naturally curious, I dropped in to have a look and... - Source: dev.to / almost 2 years ago
  • Why this sub is called rbtc not rbch
Bitcoin used to have 2 main forums where bitcoin was talked about r/bitcoin and bitcointalk.org. Source: over 2 years ago
  • Ask HN: What's the Hacker News of crypto world?
It's hard to compare something as being the Hacker News of "X", but one forum that has been filled with pretty solid discussion is https://bitcointalk.org/. Contrary to it's name it also holds discussions on other crypto topics in the 'Altcoin Discussion' section. - Source: Hacker News / over 2 years ago
  • @SatoshiLite: As we are approaching the 10th anniversary of Litecoin, I figured it's a good time to do a long Twitter 🧵 on the history of Litecoin from my perspective. - My memory of events can be hazy at times, so for those mentioned, feel free to add or correct anything I say. Here goes...
On 10/8/11, I announced Litecoin to http://bitcointalk.org. BitcoinTalk is basically the only place that people chatted about Bitcoin. No one used reddit, Twitter, Facebook. Source: over 2 years ago
  • Does anyone know of a way out?
    Https://bitcointalk.org/ Https://bitcoin.org/en/resources. Source: over 2 years ago
  • Daily Discussion, August 20, 2021
I'm guessing it's all done in https://bitcointalk.org? Source: over 2 years ago
  • I found a pedo ring using Reddit and Discord to sell and trade cp, and reddit won't do anything about it, and I don't know how to bring attention to it.
Sounds like bitcointalk.org. The administrator and other scammers talk about setting up a private government. They have the funds to do it, and they don't think pedophilia is a crime. Source: over 2 years ago
  • Hypothesis: Cryptocurrencies adoption in third world countries is not exploitation, but wealth equalizer.
I wrote a very detailed op-ed on this very subject on bitcointalk.org sharing the same sentiments many years back, sharing many of the same or similarly minded sentiments. Source: over 2 years ago
  • Are there any good discussion forums left?
Https://bitcointalk.org/ A lot of car forums survived redditification, probably because those communities are run by car enthusiasts who passionately care about every detail and would never surrender control to a benevolent central authority just so that they don't have to do slightly more work maintaining the site than they otherwise would have. Search for almost any popular sports car and you're sure to find... - Source: Hacker News / over 2 years ago
  • Other good crypto subs? (Non coin specific)
Https://bitcointalk.org/ is good and it has an altcoin section too. Source: over 2 years ago

  • Wait, is that actually what HODL means!?!? Motley Fool giving me an existential crisis.
Right. It won’t let me paste the link, but google hodl bitcoin and it’s in bitcointalk.org from 12/18/13 (“I AM HODLING”). Source: over 2 years ago
  • Need assistance with bitcointalk.org identification
As I posted a couple months ago, I'm planning a lawsuit against three members of bitcointalk.org that use sex with children to help commit crimes. Two of them are sufficiently identified, but Michael Marquard has a name similar to successful people, and I don't want to harm their reputations with the seriousness of these accusations.
