  For database, there are many, many providers that offer postgress, mysql. The full list of free databases can be found here. For now, I used a postgress database from bit.io. They offer 3*1 GB databases for free. 1 GB is pretty much overkill for Vaultwarden. Also, DUO setup is not required. I didn't find it much useful for personal use anyway.   For bit.io there's no firewall rules blocking 5432/tcp on our side - db.bit.io:5432 is open to the world. That said, many companies block _outbound_ traffic to any ports other than 80/443, and it looks like that's the case here based on downthread comments. Source: almost 3 years ago

  Hi there! bit.io database names are formatted as `username/dbname` and the JetBrains IDEs do not like the `/`. There are a bunch of different characters including `.`, `~`, `|` you can use instead to form a valid bit.io database name. So passing `usernaname.dbname` as the database name should allow you to connect. Source: almost 3 years ago

  Biased because I work there (in a role that has me using the product extensively every day)—I think bit.io is great. Setup takes seconds. Create a database with one click (or with our developer API) and then you have a Postgres database and access credentials you can use to connect with just about any tool that works with Postgres.   So - I'm doing a starter project - django webapp using postgres db hosted on bit.io. when running on localhost, my webapp can connect to the db perfectly. On aws (elastic beanstalk) it also worked perfectly. Then I started racking up aws charges - decided to move it to pythonanywhere.com (free). Now it can't connect to the db.   Some alternatives to the Heroku free tier on both Redis and Postgres exist right now. I've moved non-critical things to bit.io and redis.com (if that helps). Both have some drawbacks compared to the prior Heroku ad-ons. Source: almost 3 years ago

  I was thinking AWS or a cloud service would be the solution but there are so many different areas of these cloud providers they kind of have me confused about what service I want to turn on and what I don't. I did a quick Google search and I got a website called bit.io that I think does what I need it to do.
