Social recommendations and mentions

We have tracked the following product recommendations or mentions on various public social media platforms and blogs. They can help you see what people think about Bikemap and what they use it for.
  • Best route to cycle from Potsdam to Berlin with marked bike paths?
I even made a trial premium account on bikemap.net, however, it also only offers me to ride through Grunewald on Havelchausse, which also doesn't have a marked bike lane, as far as I can see from the online pictures. Source: about 3 years ago
  • Specific routes in my area
    2) Search ridewithgps.com, mapmyride.com, bikemap.net, and strava.com for routes in your area. These have many routes created by riders and organizations. I use ridewithgps.com. Source: about 4 years ago
  • Long distance route planning advice?
Cyclestreets.org for UK and bikemap.net for the rest of the world. Source: over 4 years ago
  • Canadian teachers in Melbourne?
Have a look at bikemap.net if you're interested. Source: over 4 years ago
  • Spanish road bike rider new to Switzerland: I have some questions regarding road cycling here
Thank you for the route tips!!! I have found some on bikemap.net already and I'm eager to start and get lost in the beautiful landscape (well, when the weather will improve). Source: over 4 years ago
  • is a 26 mile ride averaging around 14 mph good on a mountain bike?
Once I found this site (bikemap.net - free to use), I completely rebuilt my commute which added around 8 KM (5 miles) to the commute but was MUCH MUCH safer. bikemap recommended a lot of side streets in areas where there are no trails. Roads I would not have thought to use and this took me off the "main roads" and onto bike trails and side streets. Source: almost 5 years ago
  • Looking for 'Bicycle touring for dummies'
As for planning, I use bikemap.net, they are incredible in Europe at least. It does planning amazingly well, and navigation pretty well. I load the charted maps on to a Garmin Edge, but you can just use your phone. Get a phone mount for like $10, and a powerbank since it will drain a bit. Source: about 5 years ago
  • Bike ride commute from Merrylands to CBD. Just under 3 hours, stopped a bit. Easy and safe ride via cycleway and path. 46km.
It looks as though browsing bikemap.net should work, I found suggestions like this one (but the interface is not great, I started with "everything in Sydney" and browsed):. Source: about 5 years ago

Summary of the public mentions of Bikemap

Summary of Public Opinion on Bikemap

Bikemap, as a navigation app for cyclists, occupies a distinctive position within the mobile application landscape, offering services across various domains such as Maps & Navigation, Health and Fitness, and Travel. Despite facing competition from apps like Funliday, Moovit, MyRoutes Route Planner Pro, and others, Bikemap has generated notable attention within its niche market. Below is a comprehensive analysis of public opinions and various mentions related to Bikemap.

Strengths of Bikemap
  1. Feature-rich Platform: Bikemap has been consistently praised for its user-friendly interface and the array of features it provides. Many users appreciate that most of its features are accessible for free. However, the subscription to Bikemap Premium enhances the user experience significantly, offering additional cycling-friendly map layers, 3D route views, and offline navigation. This upgrade appeals to more serious cycling enthusiasts who prioritize comprehensive route planning.

  2. Global Coverage: The app is recognized for its extensive global coverage, allowing users worldwide to plan their cycling routes effectively. Whether users are seeking cycling routes in Canada, Switzerland, or Australia, Bikemap offers an expansive collection of user-generated routes, making it a valuable tool for cyclists venturing into unfamiliar territories.

  3. Safety and Planning: From removing users from main roads to recommending side streets and bike trails, Bikemap is considered by many as a tool that improves cycling safety. This feature resonates well with users aiming to build safer commuting routes, particularly in urban settings where traffic can be a concern.

Areas for Improvement
  1. Route Accuracy: Despite its strengths, Bikemap faces criticism regarding the accuracy of its suggested routes. Some users have reported questionable navigation decisions, such as directing cyclists through paths unsuited for commuter bikes. This reflects a need for improved route data and enhanced algorithms to offer more reliable guidance, especially in regions where certain paths, such as bridleways, might not be sustainable for all bike types.

  2. User Interface: While functional, the app has been criticized for its less intuitive interface compared to competitors. Users have noted difficulties in browsing and navigating through available routes, suggesting a potential area for enhancement that could significantly improve user satisfaction and usability.

  3. Localized Challenges: Bikemap's performance varies across different regions. Certain users in specific locales like Potsdam to Berlin have pointed out that not all routes provided by Bikemap include marked bike lanes, which might be a critical factor for some cyclists prioritizing designated cycling paths.

Conclusion

Overall, Bikemap holds potential as a valuable cycling navigation app with a host of features and international applicability. While it possesses many strengths, primarily in its accessibility, rich feature set, and global reach, there remain opportunities for improvement, especially concerning route accuracy and user interface design. Addressing these aspects could significantly enhance the user experience and consolidate Bikemapโ€™s standing in the competitive cycling navigation market. Users seeking comprehensive route planning and a robust mapping solution might find Bikemap beneficial, whereas those prioritizing intuitive navigation and precision may look forward to future updates that address current limitations.
