Well good news is, I use Google.com, not Google.ca. Easy way out of this. Since most of the websites out there are .com and American, it ain't an issue. In fact, I envy the Americans who can use .com such as bestbuy.com or walmart.com to represent them instead of .us whereas for Canada and the rest of the world have to use .ca to explicitly state it's Canadian to avoid ambiguity.
