Full time AutoCAD operator and I hate my mouse - HELP! I am looking for a finger operated trackball and do a lot of zooming, scrolling, and click/dragging. Never used a trackball before.

Workrave

Another thing that massively helped reducing the pain was doing frequent rests and pauses. I used Workrave on Linux and Stretchly on mac to force me taking regular breaks. Because only using a trackball was not sufficient for me to reduce the pain. Keeping a correct posture and doing frequent pauses really helped me. In a couple of weeks the pain was heavily reduced, and in a couple of months the pain completely disappeared.
