When I travel, I look at eater.com for food recs, alltrails.com for hiking recs and google maps for anything not covered by those aggregators. This works out most of the time, and certainly provides higher-quality responses than random people on reddit. Source: 5 months ago

How long of a hike/walk? Bridle Trails is fantastic. Trilogy area of Redmond (Redmond Ridge) also has a ton of trails. I highly recommend the alltrails.com app or site. You can search by easy/moderate/hard and distance and using the map zoom into a specific area. Source: 10 months ago
OH and use alltrails.com to look up trails you're interested in and see the latest conditions. If I were you, and people are saying there's an active bear on a trail I would avoid it since you are alone. You'll find some trails people mention not great visibility around some corners or due to huckleberry bushes...I'd avoid those too on your own. Bears might be into huckleberry when you get there and the last thing... Source: 10 months ago

Welcome to the "club". A good friend of mine started to hike when she was about 50. Got interested from listening to my backpacking stories. She joined the local chapter of the Sierra Club and found one or two other hiking groups in town after that. If you want to try some solo hikes for whatever reason, go to alltrails.com and figure out how to use their web site. It has a ton of info. Source: almost 1 year ago

I've heard that Dipple Dell is pretty flat. I'd suggest alltrails.com The app will let out offline navigate trails with your phone's GPS (though that's the plus version.) It does have a ton of suggestions. SLC and the surrounds have a shitton of trails. The elevation gains will probably kick your ass in the beginning but it gets better. My first trail kicked my ass for like three weeks, then it was a week, then a... Source: about 1 year ago

Thank you!! I've been searching up and down alltrails.com, but it really looks like most parks/areas are closed because of the storms. Not surprised by any means, but was hoping someone had gone out recently or knew something I wasn't able to find online. Source: about 1 year ago
