Well… Agones is literally designed to address this problem so I guess some companies will be using it. Source: over 1 year ago
When I advise my customer(s) I spend quite a bit of time figuring out "where they are" to try and meet them in the same place. Obviously not possible using reddit ;-) So - I'll apologize if this is not helpful, but check out https://agones.dev/site/. Source: over 1 year ago
To be fair, they already use Kubernetes for game servers. They even had a very insightful talk about it at KubeCon EU this year (a day ago actually). Most of the challenges faced by game peculiarities (eg. Cannot kill a game-server pod if a player is connected on it) are tackled with agones. The guy doing the presentation also mentioned they were helping out studios plan for k8s deployments etc. Source: over 1 year ago
Thank you I looked at nakama and agones before.. .. Nakama is peaty pricey while https://agones.dev/site/ free sadly no godot yet. Source: about 2 years ago
You are looking for agones, literally built for game server to solve the problem you are talking about. Once a game server is “allocated” agones won’t try to replace it for upgrades/whatever, and will make a new pod to replace the availability. Source: over 2 years ago
