You could technically make this in illustrator, but the actual program you’d need to be using for the whole thing is something like Adobe InDesign, or Affinity Publisher. Source: over 1 year ago
Affinity Publisher might be worth a look. Source: over 1 year ago
I use Affinity Publisher, as it is the direct competitor of Adobe InDesign. It's a one-time purchase and has all the features InDesign has for as far as I've used it so far. Only the spreadsheet handling is a little wierd. Fingers crossed they update that system. Source: over 1 year ago
There's always Affinity Publisher. https://affinity.serif.com/en-gb/publisher/. - Source: Hacker News / over 1 year ago
There are professional layout tools like Indesign or Affinity Publisher. The latter is very affordable and comes without a subscription. Source: over 1 year ago
Affinity Publisher — For editorial work. Haven’t tried it but if it’s on par with the other Affinity apps It’s probably going to be good. Source: over 1 year ago
I haven't done DTP in years so I'm a bit out of the loop but I once worked with Serif's PagePlus X9 and it was very easy to use. Sadly it's dead now (perhaps you can still get it on the cheap somewhere) but has a reasonably priced successor, Affinity Publisher, which has a trial period. Source: about 2 years ago
You'll want to get some publishing software (I use Affinity Publisher). A word processor will do in a pinch, but trust me: Publishing software is so much easier to work with. Source: over 2 years ago
If you have budget and simple is the overriding factor then probably MS publisher. The problem is that layout programs by nature are powerful and complex. Alternatively you could take a look at https://affinity.serif.com/en-gb/publisher/ . If you want free/open source then https://www.scribus.net/. Source: over 2 years ago
Affinity Publisher is an excellent text layout and design program—think Quark Xpress (if you're old skool) or Adobe InDesign, but much much much more affordably priced. I use that, plus Scrivener, for the paperbacks, and Sigil for the ebooks. Source: over 2 years ago
I write in Word then import to Affinity Publisher (a cheaper alternative to Indesign). Source: over 2 years ago
There are some 'quality of life' updates like the gap tool, and various paragraph/column-level treatments. Paragraphs-spanning-columns is nice. But many of the features since CS3 are more about platform lock-in - all the online 'library' stuff. ID is still the best tool for document preparation - I'm a long-time fan - but unless you're using it professionally, there's competition that's worth considering. Source: over 2 years ago
Its not free, but Affinity Publisher is very similar to Indesign, and much, much cheaper. Source: over 2 years ago
Affinity Publisher (paid) | MAS Adobe InDesign alternative without subscription. Source: over 2 years ago
I heard Affinity Publisher by Serif is almost identical, and I'm going to try it as soon as my Adobe subscription ends. You pay only once for a lifetime license. Source: over 2 years ago
InDesign is what I prefer, it's really great for book layouts. I've also heard people talking about Affinity Publisher in here lately, it's a cheaper InDesign alternative that looks pretty cool. There's also Scribus but I haven't used it and I think the vibe is that it isn't quite as full-featured but it's freeware so that's cool. Source: almost 3 years ago
Affinity Publisher is a great alternative to InDesign. At a fraction of the cost, it does almost everything that InDesign does. Definitely check it out! Source: about 3 years ago
There’s a new guy on the block https://affinity.serif.com/en-gb/publisher/. Source: about 3 years ago
