Shameless plugin. Funny enough we just made agents kubernetes native at adaptive [1] [1] https://adaptive.live. - Source: Hacker News / 11 days ago
All the points that you are mentioning, you can technically do with tools too. We do that at adaptive [1] [1] https://adaptive.live. - Source: Hacker News / about 2 months ago
Interesting times indeed. We are have running protocol aware proxying doing the same including masking for 10+ databases, no tool change required [1] [1] https://adaptive.live/. - Source: Hacker News / 3 months ago
We have a custom RDP client [1]. So I have some experience building something like this. We do some an implementation similar to this. Clipboard sharing, uploading and downloading via shared drive is a freerdp feature that should be readily available. We also have sessions recording which is non-negotiable in PAM. We do this too but for kubernetes, databases, ssh or various other protocols. https://adaptive.live/. - Source: Hacker News / 5 months ago
I think Kubernetes is a good candidate to run these sandboxes. It is just that you have to do a lot of annotations, node group management, pod security policies, etc. I think Kata containers with Kubernetes is an even better sandboxing option for these agents to run remotely. Shameless plugin here but we at Adaptive [1] do something similar. [1] https://adaptive.live. - Source: Hacker News / 5 months ago
We do something similar in adaptive [1]. What you can also do is add frontend and backend user to the proxy and then agents won't ever get the actual db user and password. You can make it throwaway too. Traditionally it was database activity monitoring which kind of fell out of fashion, but I think it is going to be back with advent of agents. Theres more to it. This falls into the realm of privileged access management. I think if you are critical infrastructure, financial institution, healthcare tech. This is non negotiable and it is part of your compliances. Just VPN do not cut out. At adaptive [1], we do the same for server, databases and kubernetes clusters. It is a double digit billion dollar TAM. [1] https://adaptive.live. - Source: Hacker News / 7 months ago
Combination of bash profiles and alias can be used to achieve this without installing any external thing. You can prevent commands like rm, chmod, cat etc even for root user. You can also prevent root users from accessing directories where the vault, database etc. Data is written. Ps. At Adaptive (http://adaptive.live), we have kind of productized something like this. - Source: Hacker News / over 1 year ago
At adaptive(https://adaptive.live), we have built a cloud native PAM that integrates with over 40+ resources, various databases natively. Various fintech, Healthcare etc orgs are using it in production. I agree with you, container based PAMs are groundbreaking. - Source: Hacker News / over 1 year ago
