Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing Abunch.
  1. How would you describe the primary audience of Abunch?

People who live in their browser and juggle far more sites than a default new tab can hold — across work, news, tools, finance, and side projects. That includes anyone replacing a start-page tool like Start.me, and heavy link-curators (researchers, makers, multi-project workers) who want real structure, not just another folder. The common thread: they want all their sites organized in one place, with the few they use daily always one click away.

  2. Why should a person choose Abunch over its competitors?

If you want a feed-and-widget command center, other tools do that well — Abunch isn't trying to be one. It's for a different need: getting to your sites fast and starting your day from a calm, organized place. Bookmark managers are great for saving links to read later; widget dashboards are great for at-a-glance feeds. Abunch is organized around your actual browsing pattern — the sites you open every day, one click away, with everything else tidied out of view. And you're not dropped onto an empty page: browse ready-made collections of sites by topic and copy one to your homepage in a click.

  3. What makes Abunch unique?

Most start pages force a trade-off: a clean page with only a handful of links, or a cluttered wall of everything. Abunch removes that trade-off. You can organize all of your sites — not just your top ten — yet your homepage stays calm, because a Daily view keeps your everyday sites up front while everything you only need now and then lives in a separate Occasional space. It's a personal homepage built around how you actually use the web: your sites, grouped, one click away — not one search away.

  4. What's the story behind Abunch?

Abunch started as an internal tool. We kept dozens of sites in regular rotation, but a browser's new tab only holds a handful of shortcuts, so the rest scattered into bookmarks and forgotten tabs. We built a single page that put every site one click away, grouped by topic, and used it every day for more than a year before turning it into a product. The name comes from that idea: "a bunch" of related sites, grouped together.
