    A great i18n collaborative platform

AFFiNE is a local-first, privacy-focussed, open-source knowledge management software. So we wanted to find an open-source solution for our translation and localisation needs, and that's where Tolgee comes in.

Not only is the software super straight forward to use, they offer extensive support. From free cloud tiers for other open-source software and the ability to self-host our own Tolgee instance.

Their team have been very friendly and easy to reach, taking on our feedback and ideas to help improve the Tolgee experience for everyone.

We look forward to work more with Tolgee and grow the ecosystem of open-source tools to a more wider audience.

Hi, Have you tried Tolgee for translation management? It's open source, so if you feel like it, you can self-host it for free. If you don't feel like self-hosting it, you can go for pay-as-you go plan, so you pay only for what you use. πŸš€. Source: 7 months ago

Or you can try Tolgee. It doesn't have Android SDK yet, but it has a pretty nice REST API and it can export to .json or .xliff. Definitely better workflow than Excel. And it open-source. (Disclaimer, I am the founder of it. haha.). Source: about 1 year ago
  • Identifying I18n translation keys
Hey, identifying of the keys is pain. That was one of the reasons why I founded Tolgee. Using that you can not only identify the keys byt also modify the keys directly in the web application you are working on. πŸ™‚ We don't have a Ruby integration, but it few folks already required it. It would be great to find somebody interested who would help us to create such integration. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Show HN: ChatGPT-i18n – Translate websites' locale json files with AI assistance

  • NextJs for simple sites? (business sites)
We use Docusaurus for our static website/documentation generation and it's also cool, since it accepts MDX (markdown with JSX) and it generates doc pages and also a blog. I would probably go for Docusaurus even for your use case, since I am used to that. For you that might be overkill though. Source: over 1 year ago
  • I've created probable the simplest I18N framework for HTML & JS! Only 1KB. 0 dependencies.
Interesting approach. It is pretty simple. What I would be concerned about is maintainability. When you would like translator to translate your data, this would be extremely hard to provide the strings in all of the tags. Another issue I see there is SEO. When you want your app in pl, the script needs to be executed to replace the strings. Which is not as cool as server side rendered data. I actually faced similar... Source: over 1 year ago
  • Framework/Libraries for developing frontend for a seasoned backend developer?
Go for React. It has the largest ecosystem and IMO, it's super simple and it has the best architecture. I have also experience with Angular, Vue or Svelte, but React fits our needs the best. We also work on SaaS (https://tolgee.io) providing integrations for all the major JS frameworks. Source: over 1 year ago

Best Localization Software in 2022
Developers are not involved in the localization process following the development phase using Tolgee. They create the app, integrate Tolgee integration libraries, and deploy an instance that allows translators to edit localization texts in the context of a web application. The texts are then synced with the Tolgee server (REST API), and no developers are required in the localization process.
