In simple terms, You do a waitlist landing page with your idea and then ask people to signup if they are interested in it, then if people are signing up that means that your idea has some sort of validation, and you can go ahead with product building based on the user feedbacks. Supabase is very easy to implement with Next.js and I don't think there are any pitfalls using it. I have used it in one of my projects (prelaunchers.xyz) and I am impressed.
