You appear naiive in every sense of the word. Stop getting your info from your "trusted adult" or reddit for that matter. Get your credit report and scores from the only trusted sources: MyFico or Annual Credit Report. Read the government housing websites, or even go over to the forum community on MyFico, which I personally like. If you follow through, you won't need to ask questions like this. Yeah, we all have 40+ different credit scores. Your CK scores are "legit" in terms that they're accurate VS3 (VantageScore 3.0) it's just that VS3 is rarely used in lending decisions which makes them nearly irrelevant. Fico scores are used the the majority of lending decisions, with Fico 8 being the most commonly used model today. The Fico 9 you are getting is lesser used than Fico 8 since few lenders adopted... When a company does an inquiry without your requesting it, like for a "pre-qualified" offer for a credit card, that's a soft inquiry and it doesn't show as a hard inquiry on your credit report. You can also check your OWN credit like on myfico.com, and that's a soft inquiry. Background checks are also in this category. Source: 11 months ago

One potential solution is to limit showing to one day of the week, then give applicants a chance to apply on the spot (a service like mysmartmove.com that they pay for can give you a fast response) and allow them to make their deposit and sign a lease the same day. Source: about 1 year ago

I have just sent out my applications to the grad students from myrental.com. I chose my myrental.com simply because I see that it costs a little less than mysmartmove.com . I'll type slow... mysmartmove.com You create an account, when applicants give you name and email, you fill out that info on the website. The applicant pays the fee, enters their SSAN and verified their ID. Then, you get a report on their pay, credit and criminal history based on TransUnion searching them. You never see their SSAN.
