All Office programs, and most 'big' editors have outlining modes, but to me the small size is a necessary feature; Unhelpful Linux developers have often suggested that I use emacs in org-mode - but since I need to save 10.000's of files, each together with the creating software, a 600 MB installation is not what I want... My personal help-file is literally over 9000 pages long, if printed. That is slightly unwieldy in a single text file. That looks interesting! The app that keeps me on windows is a small, .txt based, outliner - something that for some strange reason don't seem to exist in the 'nix-sphere. I have tried asking Linux forums for suggestions for a comparable program, but always get '[[REDACTED ]]off' answers...
