  • idrive security concern
I'm just testing idrive service and maybe I'm missing the point but it looks that anyone who gain access to idrive.com is able to get any file from any local drive, I mean any file. And even there're no notification that I should enable 2FA. And this mean that some employees could get access as well. Source: 6 months ago
  • Site unreachable via Starlink
With ZERO changes made to any of my devices, I am now able to reach idrive.com from all my devices. Source: 12 months ago
  • Best Cloud Storage for Photos
Hello, I'm interested in what cloud service you use to store your photos and if you only use one cloud service or several, "just in case" . I think it would be interesting to analyze from our own experience relation to price/quality/security ratio/possibility to access thumbnail photos and also to give upload access for a directory. In google searches I found that for those who don't want to make a business out... Source: over 1 year ago
  • Looking for a competitively priced service to host files for my study group
If you're really just wanting to store the files, then iDrive is pretty hard to beat on pricing - they've been running a 90% off promo on their 5 TB plan for a while now to where you can get a whole year of it for only $7.95 (total, not per month). Even on non-promo they're near impossible to beat on pricing. Source: over 1 year ago
  • iDrive doesn't delete remote backup files?
Is there a way to set it up so that I can sync my folder to reflect all local changes? I only need it one way. I don't access these files from other devices, nor do I go to idrive.com directly, so I will never need server->local syncing. Source: over 1 year ago

  • Google Cloud Storage FUSE
JuiceFS is mostly POSIX compatible, but there are important caveats to that like no ACL, copying files changes their mtime (which impacts backup tools), has "close-to-open" consistency (which makes it dangerous for log appenders). Choosing an appropriate solution in this space still depends on what you need to do with the storage, and some options are MooseFS https://github.com/moosefs/moosefs, Curve... - Source: Hacker News / almost 1 year ago
  • My Experience Self Hosting
Supabase-Storage uses an S3 compatible API and is ultimately just middleware for it. So, the redundancy would be at the storage backend systems. Seems like the majority of s3 compatible selfhosted systems are built for redundancy/high-availability.
