I started with NASA's "CGI Moon Kit" [1] to do my little voxel-based moon game, Mooncraft2000. Some more information, I am using a sun lightsource in the roughly 30m away. I am using a GAIA DR2 Image for the background of the galactic plane, set on strength 0.1. For the moon I am using the NASA CGI Kit, with the Color plugged into a principled shader, and the displacement image plugged into a displacement node, into the displacement output. It's not as monolithic as you'd think. There are lots of engines out there but their communities aren't very vocal compared to Unity, Unreal, and especially Godot's community.
