I started with NASA's "CGI Moon Kit" [1] to do my little voxel-based moon game, Mooncraft2000. Some more information, I am using a sun lightsource in the roughly 30m away. I am using a GAIA DR2 Image for the background of the galactic plane, set on strength 0.1. For the moon I am using the NASA CGI Kit, with the Color plugged into a principled shader, and the displacement image plugged into a displacement node, into the displacement output.
