  • Recommendation request - no transfer limit and allows custom images, <=$10/mo
Most reputable places out there will allow everything above (and match your budget), such as Linode, or Vultr (there are others). Source: 10 months ago

I recommend Hetzner or Vultr as a VPS provider as they're cheap and I/my friends have had good experiences with them. Source: 11 months ago

  • Help me understand these dedicated hosting options?
Try to check vultr.com as they also have Bare Metal and Storage Optimized VPS (NVME). Source: about 1 year ago
  • Bare metal server or cloud or another alternative?
Some places that I can recommend that I've used or use daily: Linode, Vultr, Hetzner (US data center locations only), and AWS. At each location (Linode more than any other), I've had more than a few WP installs, and some other digital apps running with heavy loads; all running on VM/Cloud products. Source: about 1 year ago
  • [P] Finetuning a commercially viable open source LLM (Flan-UL2) using Alpaca, Dolly15K and LoRA
My experience with vultr.com was really positive. Great hardware options and pricing. There were a few times when they didn't have the instance type I wanted available and I had to wait but generally pretty good. No affiliation btw. Source: over 1 year ago
  • [P] Finetuning a commercially viable open source LLM (Flan-UL2) using Alpaca, Dolly15K and LoRA
The hardware I used was on vultr.com. According to their pricing model it looks like they're sharing 80GB A100's across instances. They offer a 40GB VRAM instance which is an instance with 1/2 of an 80GV A100 GPU. Source: over 1 year ago
  • Vultr Object Storage currently dead AF
I haven't been able to enter vultr.com for many many hours now, neither my kubernetes pods. However, my site is still online :S. Source: over 1 year ago
  • No Longer Able to Connect to Work VPN
When I swapped over to tmhi I had to adjust my work loads around the fact I wont have port forwarding unless I set up a system like direct routing with a vps. I have a VPN that routs traffic with vultr.com that I have to do my port forwarding and acts as an extra "ethernet" type of deal, so I can use my vpn tools, remote management tools and so on. • Akamai / Linode Price Increase Starting 2023-04-01
I just tried vultr.com as well because I was drawn by their $2.50 and $3.50 plans but these come with limitations that are not stated upfront which smacks of false advertising. Source: over 1 year ago
  • DigitalOcean is overpriced hot garbage
I am very happy with vultr.com They are not publicly traded. Less focus on short term profits. Source: over 1 year ago
  • Self Host your Own Restream Application using Nginx and Docker Today
I use Vultr, but if you have a Digital Ocean or Linode account, you can use that, there are no limitations. - Source: dev.to / over 1 year ago

Pay vultr.com for 2 nodes k8s (I pay $10 credit). if you know terraform, you can spin up 2-nodes easily. Source: over 1 year ago
  • I have been using "personaljournal" which is based on "writefreely" but PJ does not seem to allow comments on blog posts... is there a fediverse blog system allowing comments?
You can go for a small VPS at $4 USD at vultr.com with a one click deployment of Wordpress there. That's pretty cheap for making your own federated website. Source: over 1 year ago
  • Looking for an affordable but capable host
Hi, I've recently launched my first public bot and it's been growing a lot faster than expected. I'm currently renting a 2GB VPS from vultr.com where I run a couple projects, but I'm noticing some performance issues now that the bot is getting more users, so I'm considering migrating my bot to it's own, more powerful server. I currently spend $12 a month for my vps and don't mind spending a bit more, but I would... Source: over 1 year ago

  • Is there any hosting service for students?
Checkout linode.com, digitalocean.com, vultr.com, even aws - they all have a good amount of starter credit as well as a free tier (aws I believe). Additionally, I believe these vendors would provide school event attendees codes to redeem even more $$ credit at Hackatons and such. Source: over 1 year ago

DigitalOcean may have taken the fil I/O but it’s worth nothing that Linode and Vultr both performed consistent across each server instance while DigitalOcean had one instance that performed wildly better than the other two (bringing up the average considerably).
