  • You Win or You Learn
The problem with social media is that it has to get a large userbase, and it's much, much harder to convince someone to pay than it is to use your free service. Especially if your service is social media. Twitter seems to be trying to get people to pay, and it isn't going well for them. No, in today's world in order to make a "profitable" social media, you have to get people to pay through other means. Like... - Source: Hacker News / 6 months ago
  • The Reddit App War Is Getting Messy
It's a nice glossy magazine full of eye candy. Fun if you have like 3-4 hours to kill at an airport coffee shop. But otherwise, nah.. Age of the internet, often as not I'm looking at freshnews.org, and maybe diving into arstechnica.com, tomshardware.com, or one of the other old school ones like theregister.com for my serious tech news. • Is it possible to exclude multiple entries?
Okay let's start with my motherboard Msi meg z690i unify How many times msi.com , tomshardware, hardwareluxx, price comparison websites (multiple entries, same name) , amazon you see in the results? Source: about 1 year ago
  • Case fan
FYI the 13900K is notorious for being a very difficult CPU to cool When running at full throttle. Most AIO coolers cant handle the thermal dissipation requirements of this processor. The largest 360 and 420s can do it though. Suggest you go to tomshardware.com and look at their AIO cooler reviews to give you info on thermals and noise profiles of different coolers. • SSD Upgrade/Expansion on Dell XPS 15 (9520)
The best way to learn about how they behave is to read reviews on different SSDs. A site like tomshardware.com regularly reviews SSDs and compares them to other models so you can get a really good idea how they behave. They use various testing methods which mimic the use of the SSD in things like booting, gaming, and as large storage drives. With that data, you can work out whether the SSD is suitable for you. • Eight RTX 4090s Can Break Passwords in Under an Hour
Click bait.. As expected from tomshardware.com. Source: over 1 year ago
  • Somebody please suggest me a good "USB 2.0 to HDMI" for dual monitor setup for cheap (I am broke after buying the predator monitor)
I'm not much help when it comes to budget builds but I find Tom's Hardware is a great place to ask for help, from beginners to advanced. You'll get better help there than on reddit, IMO. Source: over 1 year ago
  • How to know which mainboard is required for which CPU?
Hello there, I read on tomshardware.com that, Intel Core I5 12400 requires LGA1700 motherboard. How do they know this? It doesn't say that anywhere. Source: over 1 year ago
  • Budget gaming PC with a Ryzen 5 1500x?
When you have time, take a careful poke around tomshardware at the GPU and CPU tables, pc-builds to check for bottlenecking & userbenchmark for more specific game data from other gamers and to see what hardware other people are using playing the games you intend to play and how it performs. Use pcpartpicker to see if there are any obvious known compatibility issues. Source: over 1 year ago
  • TomsHardware.com gave out my user info!
This is 100% proof-positive that this happened because whenever I give a website my email address, I give them a unique email address that is assigned to ONLY them. I also make sure I do not sign up for any third-party specials, etc. So the ONLY way this scammer got THAT particular email address is if either tomshardware.com gave or sold it to them, or that tomshardware.com's user database was hacked. • Got a used processor, motherboard, 2 rams and a graphics, how do I know what power supply to put on this stuff if I got no idea what the processor is?
They're pretty important parts, look at reviewers such as aris on tomshardware, aris makes extremely intricate reviews and even if you don't understand the stuff he's writing, his conclusion pages are good ways to gauge the quality of a power supply. Source: about 2 years ago
  • First build ever, switching from console. Dire need of help!
I think if you're planning to spend 3,000 on a build you should probably research more. One reddit post isn't going to answer everything for you. Browse this sub or tomshardware.com and figure out what you'd like. 3,000 is a pretty good budget for a 1440p. Source: about 2 years ago
  • Need Suggestion
The RX 6800 is better. There is an article on tomshardware.com which shows a general GPU benchmark hierarchy where you can see how the GPUs compare to each other. Source: about 2 years ago
  • How do you hear about new stuff?
Online news articles like tomshardware.com for pc stuff and networking sites, for instance, https://www.networkworld.com/news/. Source: about 2 years ago
  • New to Ryzen - Temp Help?
    3) will these temps degrade my chip? There doesn't seem to be much of a consensus with any of the usual suspects (pcpartpicker.com, tomshardware.com, etc.). Source: over 2 years ago
  • A list of some stats of 30 series cards I made, more info in the comments!
Red means lower is better! % is the benchmark of the tomshardware.com (link below) The prices are MSRP so the comparison between the cards should still be accurate. The 1080 Ti I added for personal comparison, also it is the best of the best from back then. Source: over 2 years ago
  • If anyone is in search of a PS5 before Christmas, here's all the Gamestop locations selling them in-store tomorrow!
Looks like they are offering the same for the XBox X according to tomshardware.com. Good luck everyone, there's no way I will be told I have to buy three games I don't like, an extra controller that I don't need, and pay a $15/month subscription to GS just for the privilege of plunking down $800. I will continue to wait. Source: over 2 years ago
  • eli5, how do you build a pc?
Experienced builders can make their own parts lists because they know what pieces fit together. If you don't know this information, then your best bet is to buy the pieces that another builder used. (Newegg.com and tomshardware.com are good resources). Source: over 2 years ago
  • Please help me pick the least worst PSU!
And before you say, 'eh, it's some random guy from YT', Aris has done PSUs reviews for the last 10 years for techpowerup.com and tomshardware.com, the most detailed reviews on the net actually, he's to-go guy for PSU reviews right now. If he says that it's crap then it is. Source: over 2 years ago
  • Linux user coming back to Windows for the first time in 15, what should I know?
HowtoGeek.com, MajorGeeks.com, TomsHardware.com, gethub.com and TenForums.com are great sites to find solutions to things just driving you crazy about Windows. If it's bugging you, there's someone else wanting to change it, too. Source: over 2 years ago
  • I want to get into building PC's
Youtube is a good resource here, as is r/buildapc. Also check out tomshardware.com. Source: almost 3 years ago
