I need a web server, rocket.chat and next cloud. I can create multiple virtual machines to handle these but can I, or should I avoid, installing them on the same server? I'm thinking Ubuntu 22.04 server for the distro. This is all for personal use, for me and my family. - Source: Reddit / 26 days ago
Does someone recommend me a good alternative? I've checked outline but it seems lacking a lot of these features, plus they over rely on google and slack... And I'm also planning on creating a rocket.chat server for a self-hosted slack alternative. - Source: Reddit / 3 months ago

Assuming rocket.chat supports SSL then you could get a domain with an SSL for dirt cheap then install that cert on your chat system. - Source: Reddit / 5 months ago
Every day, tens of millions of users in over 150 countries and in organizations such as Deutsche Bahn, The US Navy, and Credit Suisse trust Rocket.Chat to keep their communications completely private and secure. - Source: dev.to / 6 months ago
On the WebApp Store everyone can install Wordpress to build a Website to announce a Linux Distro, use Wiki.js to create a powerful and extendable documentation and install Rocket.Chat (like Slack in OpenSource) to communicate with the Community. - Source: Reddit / 7 months ago
Nextcloud on its own or with rocket.chat / mattermost / some other tool which enables channels/chat. Nextcloud does come with shared calendars and a kanban board app, which seems fine. I'm less sure of integrating rocket.chat or mattermost with it, because of technical limitations (the software's, but my own even more). In any case, the interface is a little messy, the desktop clients don't work for our... - Source: Reddit / 8 months ago
Can recommend Rocket Chat if your looking for an open source alternative to Slack. https://rocket.chat/. - Source: Hacker News / 8 months ago
My Personal Choices and Recommendation: Chanty and RocketChat. Gathertown is also a good thing to add in as one of your virtual offices but it’s not appropriate for daily use. I just recently encountered Vocal and my team uses this one at the moment, It’s also an alternative for slack and has the same vibes but this one is more convenient since you can use video chat. It’s a voice-first app with virtual offices... - Source: Reddit / 9 months ago

I really like XMPP and it was great on ICQ-times. For a long time I had my own server (ejabberd, openfire and some others). But it was mainly for one or two friends. No acceptance in family, so migrated back to mail and sms and the family to the whole zoo of messengers. I think XMPP was to late when jumping to the phone and the missing webclient is the other point. It's a pitty. Beside some Callmanager- and... - Source: Reddit / 9 months ago

The carousel on the main page is very easily understandable, which is great! The whole topics (sub-channels, basically) idea seems interesting as well, though personally the solution itself seems pretty similar to two other great pieces of software out there:- Source: Hacker News / 10 months ago- Rocket.Chat https://rocket.chat/ (the Jitsi integration was especially nice).
How can I integrate a rocket chat live chat on a WordPress website? I need it to work as a forum for users to chat with each other. From what I've heard the WordPress rocket.chat live chat plugin is not working anymore. Is there any other good and simple solution? - Source: Reddit / 10 months ago

I spend alot of time on Discord on multiple servers. With this outage, I couldn't access any of the servers I'm involved in, which gives me some time to research into open source self hosted alternatives: https://revolt.chat/ - very similar to discord https://rocket.chat/ - more similar to slack than discord. - Source: Hacker News / about 1 year ago
To this end I encourage all tech-aligned people to start using tools like [Matrix] or rocket.chat to communicate with their cadre. Self-hosted matrix servers can work on informal networks and recently introduced a low-bandwith mode that is perfect for that. - Source: Reddit / about 1 year ago
