The Next Google
“Brave Search can operate as stand-alone, the rest cannot as they rely on Google or Bing. Most search engines are not independent search engines, and while they may provide some value, they are qualitatively different from what Brave Search is doing. I Ditched Google for DuckDuckGo. Here's Why You Should Too
It all started with a realization: Most the things I search for are easy to find. Did I really need the all-seeing, all-knowing algorithms of Google to assist me? Probably not. DuckDuckGo is really good when it comes to privacy, but just as bad as google with showing information. Even though it doesn't tell you most of the top results on DuckDuckGo are ads, they paid to be the top results. It also tends to filter out non politically correct information. I haven't been able to find any real alternative to this except maybe Swisscows and Mojeek. These search engines provide fully... Source: about 1 year ago

  • What happened to Yippy search?
Yippy.com was a great alternative to the mainstream search engines, it reminded me of an improved altavista from back in the day. But yippy.com now redirects to DDG, and I can't find any word as to why. The "Try YIPPY Search" link on yippyinc.com also gets redirected. I'm hoping this is a temporary situation due to increased demand. Back to Qwant I suppose. Source: about 3 years ago
