  • Comprehensive Features
Besides accounting, the platform also offers features like invoicing, payroll, and receipt scanning, allowing businesses to manage various financial aspects in one place.
  • Cloud-Based
As a cloud-based solution, Wave allows users to access their financial data from anywhere at any time, provided they have an internet connection.

Possible disadvantages of Wave Financial

  • Limited Customer Support
Wave mainly offers customer support through email and self-help resources. Live chat and phone support are limited, which may be a drawback for some users.
  • Limited Integrations
Wave offers fewer third-party integrations compared to some of its competitors, which might limit its functionality for businesses that rely on specific tools.
  • Not Ideal for Large Businesses
The platform is tailored for small businesses and freelancers. Larger businesses may find the features and scalability inadequate for their needs.
  • Payroll Service Limitations
The payroll service is only available in the United States and Canada, which can be a significant limitation for international businesses.
  • No Inventory Management
Wave lacks built-in inventory management features, which might be a necessary functionality for businesses that manage physical products.

Possible disadvantages of Odoo

  • Cost of Enterprise Version
While the open-source version is free, the Enterprise version can be expensive for small to medium-sized businesses, especially when considering the cost of add-ons and support services.
  • Complex Implementation
Although Odoo is flexible, this very flexibility can lead to a complex and lengthy implementation process, requiring a significant amount of time and resources to configure the system properly.
  • Steep Learning Curve
Despite its user-friendly interface, the wide range of features and customization options can result in a steep learning curve for users, particularly those without prior ERP experience.
  • Dependence on Third-Party Modules
While Odoo offers a vast array of modules, some specialized business needs might require third-party modules, which can vary in quality and may introduce compatibility or support issues.
  • Performance Issues
Some users have reported performance issues, particularly when dealing with large databases or running resource-intensive processes. These performance concerns can impact the efficiency of business operations.

Analysis of Odoo

Overall verdict

  • Overall, Odoo is considered a robust and flexible solution for businesses seeking an all-in-one management software. However, it may require some technical expertise to fully customize and implement, and thus might be best suited for companies that have access to IT resources or consultancy services.

Why this product is good

  • Odoo is often praised for its modular architecture, which allows businesses to customize and scale the software according to their specific needs. It offers a wide range of integrated applications that cover various business functions, including accounting, inventory, sales, and CRM. The open-source nature of Odoo also allows for extensive customization and integration with other systems. • Time to say goodbye to Quickbooks
You know that Quicken comes from the same company as Quickbooks, right? Personally I would go back to a #2 and ledger paper before I give Intuit another nickel. Quicken For Small Business looks inexpensive at the moment, but it is also SaaS and they will still have you by the short hairs just like they do now. Take a look at waveapps.com . It's free for the basic accounting software. Source: about 2 years ago
  • Just confirming for others that QB 2022 did indeed die at end of subscription
You can dig for my other post if you want, short story is that I was tricked into upgrading from QB Desktop 2019 to 2022 because "2019 will stop working". I was not told QBD 2022 was subscription based. They hit me up 30 days before end of subscription and jacked my annual fee from $220 to $549. After 15 years I'm done with this. Solo Freelancer. Don't need to pay for something that I don't use all the features.... Source: about 2 years ago

My own experience from more or less freelancing: If you create an account on a preconfigured server without setting it up on a machine of your own, e.g. On odoo.com / odoo.sh, or cloudpepper.io/ and don't need very specific configurations done, plus are willing to try out and learn a lot (we're speaking about days, not hours, depending on what you need even more than a week) you can do it on your own.
