  • First freelancing gig, need advice
If you need CC processing for yourself, go to waveapps.com and go create an account. Source: over 2 years ago
  • Proposal, Invoice, and Payment Solutions
I use waveapps.com. It's free and keeps track of everything all in one spot. You can even accept credit cards through them. Source: over 2 years ago
  • Time to say goodbye to Quickbooks
You know that Quicken comes from the same company as Quickbooks, right? Personally I would go back to a #2 and ledger paper before I give Intuit another nickel. Quicken For Small Business looks inexpensive at the moment, but it is also SaaS and they will still have you by the short hairs just like they do now. Take a look at waveapps.com . It's free for the basic accounting software. Source: over 2 years ago
  • Just confirming for others that QB 2022 did indeed die at end of subscription
You can dig for my other post if you want, short story is that I was tricked into upgrading from QB Desktop 2019 to 2022 because "2019 will stop working". I was not told QBD 2022 was subscription based. They hit me up 30 days before end of subscription and jacked my annual fee from $220 to $549. After 15 years I'm done with this. Solo Freelancer. Don't need to pay for something that I don't use all the features.... Source: over 2 years ago
  • Payroll expense tracking?
Wave does all of this. I only use the invoicing product, but I know they also offer bookkeeping and even payroll services. Source: over 2 years ago
  • CFI's, how do you guys take payment?
I personally use http://waveapps.com/ as my accounting software. You can give them accountant access. They make their money on the payment side, which is a little above what you might get through taking zelle, venmo, paypal payments etc, but it's nice to be able to send invoices from it and give your customers a way to pay immediately on the spot. Plus, since it is your bookkeeping software, it can log the... Source: over 2 years ago
  • Sensational misleading email from QB pushing to QBO
They told me I had to buy the latest version because QB 2019 would no longer work. I bought QB 2022 not knowing it was a subscription. They just sent me a 30 day notice to pay $549 or it would stop working. I would not even be able to open my own data file. I spent 10 days and moved my entire business over to waveapps.com. I'm just a solo freelancer and don't need all this BS and $$$. Source: over 2 years ago
  • Can I issue invoices without SSM/registered business
Yes you can issue invoice without ssm. And yes, can just use templates online. If he wants it to look more "pro", just use waveapps.com. Source: over 2 years ago
  • Closed my first client at 17!
For payments I would highly recommend using Wave. It's free to use, and the % they take out is lower than what other are that I've looked at. Its pretty easy to use. https://waveapps.com. Source: over 2 years ago
  • Quickbooks insane pricing has me looking elsewhere...
Now, it turns out that was not true. I may have to switch to their online version just to give myself a few more months to get converted over to some other product like waveapps.com. I can't just drop what I'm doing and convert over all this data in 30 days. Source: over 2 years ago
  • Which accounting software do you use?
Wave Accounting. Itโ€™s free, links to my local banks, can send estimates and invoices, receive money, and if I wanted, they offer payroll management too. Source: over 2 years ago
  • App to keep all capital improvement records in one place for taxes next year?
No reason you can't use business accounting software for that. Quickbooks is probably a bit robust, but something more simple like Wave (waveapps.com) which is web-based and free, you can upload pics of receipts, etc... (I'm not affiliated with them, I've just used it and like it). Source: over 2 years ago
  • Small Business / Tax Accountant Ottawa?
Aside from the question of incorporation, you'll want to set up a separate bank account and credit card for your business. I'd also recommend connecting your business accounts to waveapps.com which is a free accounting service that keeps track of your expenses, invoices etc. It made my life a LOT easier. Source: over 2 years ago
  • Can you please provide a recommendation for payment processing?
We use wave for book keeping and recurring billing with payment options through them. I don't know if they are the cheapest or the most expensive, I do know that it was easy to set up and we havent had any issues yet so worth every percentage lol. Source: almost 3 years ago
  • Honeybook vs Dubsado
And I use waveapps.com for invoicing. I guess take "free" with a grain of salt because credit card payments are 2.9% + $0.60 on there ($.30 more than standard) but I'm almost positive ACH payments are free, although I rarely get those for the type of work I'm doing and using Wave for. Source: about 3 years ago
  • using notion for personal finances
I like to use Waveapps.com, transaction importing simply saves too much time to not. Plus, invoicing is slick. Plus accountant help can be purchased on the platform. In my research, I feel my Data is safe with them. Source: about 3 years ago
  • Cheapest Method to send monthly USD from USA to contractor in Netherlands as a Small Business?
I need to send money every month to my employee in the Netherlands. The amount I send him depends on each invoice as certain items have different costs. I want to send him USD as per our contract. What would be the cheapest method for this? I'd like to use my Blue Business Plus card but can do simple bank transfers if needed. I probably will be invoicing clients via waveapps.com. Source: about 3 years ago
  • Official Question Thread! Ask /r/photography anything you want to know about photography or cameras! Don't be shy! Newbies welcome!
Use something like waveapps.com or bullethq.com to handle invoicing and receipts. You can create them yourself in Excel or Google Sheets too but that's a hassle sometimes. Source: about 3 years ago
  • Godaddy bookkeeping shutting down in 5 days what are our best options?
Waveapps.com is pretty good it's what I use. And it's free if you don't use the support very much. Source: over 3 years ago

Summary of the public mentions of Wave Financial

Wave Financial, often referred to simply as Wave, is a free, user-friendly accounting software tailored for small businesses, freelancers, and entrepreneurs seeking streamlined financial management without incurring substantial expenses. It is continually recognized as a compelling alternative to more established accounting solutions like QuickBooks, GnuCash, and FreshBooks. Based on recent discussions and product reviews, public opinion generally views Wave as a valuable solution with several key advantages and a few limitations.

Strengths

  1. Cost Effectiveness: Wave is predominantly lauded for being completely free for the core features that entrepreneurs and small business owners find essential, such as invoicing, expense tracking, and receipt scanning. Unlike many of its competitors, there is no monthly subscription fee for the main services, offering immense financial relief to small businesses operating on tight budgets.

  2. Ease of Use: Many users appreciate Wave's intuitive interface, which makes it accessible even to those without an accounting background. It's particularly noted for its simplified process of managing financial tasksโ€”from sending invoices to tracking cash flowโ€”which helps streamline operations for small business owners.

  3. Robust Features: Despite being free, Wave offers an impressive suite of features that competes closely with premium software options. These include automatic bank syncing, expense management, financial statement generation, and support for multiple users, making it easier to collaborate with accountants and financial advisors.

  4. Integration and Automation: Wave supports integration with platforms like Salesforce, which can automate processes such as customer record creation and invoice generation. It includes features like automatic bank feeds and reminders, which optimize bookkeeping tasks and reduce the risk of errors.

  5. Accessibility: Users frequently highlight the ability to log transactions and manage finances from anywhere, due to its cloud-based nature. This increases the flexibility for users who operate remotely or have distributed teams.

Limitations

  1. Limited Advanced Features: Compared to more comprehensive accounting solutions like QuickBooks or Oracle NetSuite, Wave lacks some advanced features such as inventory tracking and detailed income and expense categorization. For businesses requiring in-depth financial analytics, Wave's offerings might not suffice.

  2. Monetization via Payment Processing: While the core services are free, Wave monetizes through additional services like payment processing. Users generally find this acceptable, though they note transaction fees on credit card processing can be slightly above market averages.

  3. Support Options: Some users have mentioned that support services might not be as extensive or responsive as those provided by paid services. The lack of live customer support can be a drawback for users needing immediate assistance or guidance.

General Sentiment

Overall, the consensus among small business owners and freelancers is that Wave is an indispensable tool for those seeking cost-effective and straightforward accounting software. Its ease of use and robust features at no financial cost are highly appreciated, making it a popular choice for individuals looking to ditch complex and costly solutions like QuickBooks. Those switching from traditional or subscription-based accounting solutions often cite financial savings and simplicity as significant factors driving their adoption of Wave. While there are some limitations in terms of advanced features and customer support, the trade-off is considered worthwhile by many small-scale users.
