You're worrying too much about this. First, you're confusing a Zettelkasten (ZK) with a PKM. You don't need a PKM to have a ZK. And, yes, there are examples of text based ZKs. Markdown is awesome! But, when writing 1000 words+ articles, I quickly feel the need for a better experience.
