What I've done before this happened: 1. Updated Windows to latest build (which is again asking me to since I restored to previous restoration point). 2. Installed "SoundSwitch" to switch with hotkeys between different sound outputs. Source: 6 months ago
Https://soundswitch.aaflalo.me/ can also come in handy. It can make switching sound outputs much easier (again, a key combo can toggle between several outputs). Source: 11 months ago
I use SoundSwitch for switching between mt Steeleseries and speakers. I really like my headphones but find it extremely annoying they can't have a normal aux out so could just use a cable splitter. It is the reason I will never buy another set. Source: 11 months ago
Download SoundSwitch so you can switch between sources with hotkeys. Source: 12 months ago
If that doesn't work look at your Sounds/Recording settings and make sure the mic is the default input device. What I'm thinking now is you may just want to solve this with the nuclear option like this guy did - https://old.reddit.com/r/Windows10/comments/f4tw3k/cannot_open_any_microsoft_store_apps_windows/ A pain in the ass, but most 3rd-party applications can export settings, and a program like Patch My PC or winstall can reinstall software quickly. Transfer personal files over, use Patch My PC to install 3rd-party apps all at once and quickly, copy app settings over to new machine. Source: about 1 year ago
If you image your whole drive and then restore it, you'll be right back in the same exact place you are now. Back up your personal files, 3rd-party software settings (where possible) and browser bookmarks to external storage, do a PC reset from settings using the cloud option, reinstall 3rd-party software with Ninite or Patch My PC.
