Request Tracker is an older ticket system that also does asset management and can associate tickets with assets. It can be rather tedious to configure, as I recall, but it can do almost whatever you want. Hope you know some perl. I never personally ran into the issues with those 2 programs, but just know there was real evidence given that it happened. I don't remember the details. If you want to know bad enough, you can search online and find it. You might find most if not all in discussions at spiceworks.com, but I can't be for certain at the moment.
