I would check out https://raddle.me and https://beehaw.org. Both seem to be positive and cozy spaces. They might not have all the relevant communities but it's a good start. Source: 10 months ago

I've seen some other alternatives such as raddle where independent users are trying to recreate the Reddit experience with a new platform (yet it doesn't seem to use the same Karma System, make of that what you will) but I'm still curious to see where everyone is going if large parts of Reddit disappear after July 1st... I have started using Reditr for Reddit now. It has all the functionality of Reddit but I can now view ALL my feeds in their own columns. And its free. Source: about 1 year ago

I just don't like the old reddit interface. With the chrome extension to use multiple columns, or the Tampermonkey script from link below, I just can't go back. Also found the site http://reditr.com/ recently which is interesting. Source: about 1 year ago
