Google search does not show https://play.google.com/books in its results at all. It’s not ideal, but you can try using Google Play Books in your internet browser to read your ePub files. The URL is https://play.google.com/books and there doesn’t seem to be a limit to how many files you can upload. I use it as a way to back up all my files to the cloud as well as to read on computers where I don’t want to have to download any programs. Source: about 1 year ago

In general, the best solution for ensuring that you have your books (and have them in good condition) in the long run is to buy digital books and then remove the DRM (assuming that you can't buy them DRM-free in the first place, though most publishers don't do that).
