  • Feedback for an app to help plan finances and control impulsive spending
Nova uses Open Banking APIs so no need for manual input of transactions. Everything is automated - even bill detection. We launched this version last May and about 95% of our users are developers or in tech - some have mentioned having ADHD too! Would love to hear your thoughts (good or bad) on how we can improve the product, messaging, website, etc. Thank you so much in advance. Source: 11 months ago
  • Is it possible to travel forever on 600K net worth? Not alienincome, just a simple life.
u/expatright I'd recommend picking your target destinations on Nomadlist and Numbeo, then give Nova money a whirl to get a sense of what kind of lifestyle and travels could be on the cards for you. Source: almost 1 year ago
  • How much did kids delay FIRE for you?
So I can't put a number on how many years it'll add to your retirement target, but these are the main factors. There a few decent forecasting tools like Projectionlab for long-term planning and Nova Money for the daily stuff. Have a go at different scenarios (1 child, 2 children...) and I'm willing to wager it'll be more than 5 years. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Need to get a handle on our spending - any good (preferably free) software please?
Nova Money https://novamoney.com/ does all you are looking for 👍. Source: over 1 year ago
  • Building Nova #1: The immortal bug and plans for the future
In other news, we are also working on adding some much needed clarity to the Goals screen. In the next feature release (some time next week), we will add a visual representation of the entire plan that Nova has crafted for you in order to reach your Goals. This will show all of the future planned allocations that you must put towards your goals in order to complete them. We don’t want you to tunnel vision on the... Source: almost 2 years ago

  • App for multiple budgets
I have used financier.io for years and love it—especially the fact that I can have multiple budgets (one budget for all of my personal accounts, and a separate budget for those accounts I share with my partner). But as our financial lives get more and more complicated, it becomes more and more of a hassle to manually enter every transaction, so I am considering a switch to a budget app that will connect with my... • random expenses always pile up
Also not the person you asked. I use Financier, which is much like YNAB, but with fewer bells and whistles and MUCH cheaper ($15/year vs. $99, both $USD). The biggest difference is that Financier won't link to your bank accounts, but I find that manual entry works better for us anyway. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Moved Back to YNAB4
If you like YNAB4 but want a web version financier.io is a good alternative. it can even import your YNAB4 data. But after that, new transaction do need to be added manually, there's no importing (even by like csv files or whatever). Source: over 1 year ago
  • Local-First Web Development
I've been really happy with CouchDB + PouchDB at https://financier.io You can do unique things like offer a trial period without syncing (database wholly in browser), which allows for ridiculously quick onboarding. And the sync mechanism works so well. It's really cool how easy it is to implement a Google Docs-like sync mechanism with conflict resolution baked in. - Source: Hacker News / over 1 year ago
  • For those of you still on YNAB classic this is for you
So you recreated https://financier.io/ ? Source: over 1 year ago
