UK Financial Mistakes- AVOID THEM! With Nova Money

Social recommendations and mentions

We have tracked the following product recommendations or mentions on various public social media platforms and blogs. They can help you see what people think about Nova Money and what they use it for.
  • Feedback for an app to help plan finances and control impulsive spending
Nova uses Open Banking APIs so no need for manual input of transactions. Everything is automated - even bill detection. We launched this version last May and about 95% of our users are developers or in tech - some have mentioned having ADHD too! Would love to hear your thoughts (good or bad) on how we can improve the product, messaging, website, etc. Thank you so much in advance. Source: 10 months ago
  • Is it possible to travel forever on 600K net worth? Not alienincome, just a simple life.
u/expatright I'd recommend picking your target destinations on Nomadlist and Numbeo, then give Nova money a whirl to get a sense of what kind of lifestyle and travels could be on the cards for you. Source: 11 months ago
  • How much did kids delay FIRE for you?
So I can't put a number on how many years it'll add to your retirement target, but these are the main factors. There a few decent forecasting tools like Projectionlab for long-term planning and Nova Money for the daily stuff. Have a go at different scenarios (1 child, 2 children...) and I'm willing to wager it'll be more than 5 years. Source: 11 months ago
  • Need to get a handle on our spending - any good (preferably free) software please?
Nova Money https://novamoney.com/ does all you are looking for 👍. Source: over 1 year ago
  • Building Nova #1: The immortal bug and plans for the future
In other news, we are also working on adding some much needed clarity to the Goals screen. In the next feature release (some time next week), we will add a visual representation of the entire plan that Nova has crafted for you in order to reach your Goals. This will show all of the future planned allocations that you must put towards your goals in order to complete them. We don’t want you to tunnel vision on the... Source: over 1 year ago
  • What cost of living price has really been an eye opener?
Highly recommend this app if you want to look at your own numbers and track your spending. There are also other apps that do similar like Emma. Source: almost 2 years ago
  • How can people save for a deposit?
One thing that's been helping me is getting strict with my spending. Highly suggest an app Nova Money. I've set my savings goals there, and it gives me feedback if the goals are realistic to be reached at that target date or not. It calculates my bills and goals and gives me the budget I should live off of for the month to hit my goals. I can keep track of my spending on a daily basis and adjust my spending... • How 'tight' are you when it comes to buying new clothing and shoes?
If it's more of an impulsive buy, then I would check my monthly budget and see if I can spare some money before the next payday and so I would buy it. I use an app called Nova Money to help me determine this easily. If I don't have any spare, then I can set it as a goal for the following month, so my budget for next month adjusts too. • Is London becoming affordable for millionaires only?
I highly recommend Nova Money if you want to make this whole process easier. You can set your goals directly there, then it sets your budget and tracks your spending automatically. Otherwise, create your own spreadsheet and make the effort to update it as you spend. There are also other apps available. Source: about 2 years ago
  • From what age do you teach your kids financial literacy and how?
Since teens nowadays are into tech, why not teach him with a digital approach? If they have their own debit card you top up like Revolut, he can use Nova Money. It's a money management app which has a futuristic feel to it. At least you can ask him to set up for bigger savings goals beyond his gadgets and games. This will give him a good start to seeing the value of money and how his spending can affect his goals. Source: about 2 years ago
  • Budgeting / Finances container app
Try https://novamoney.com, gets recommended on /r/ukpersonalfinance a lot if you've got a British account. Source: over 2 years ago
  • How to be very careful with my student balance for Uni this term?
Firstly, you need to have some way of tracking your spending habits. The wiki has good resources on this but in general this falls into two categories; spreadsheets and automated tracking (e.g apps). Personally I use excel and Nova Money but any choice is fine as long as you can visibly see what you're spending on. Source: over 2 years ago
  • Looking for a loadable debit card that can't be overdrawn. One with a spending tracking app.
I use Revolut + spreadsheet tracking on edcel and a budget tracker app (in my case Nova for a more detailed spending analysis). Source: over 2 years ago
  • What's everyone's preferred budgeting app
Nova Money fairly new but I love it more than all other apps I’ve used before. It makes the whole budgeting, tracking and goals monitoring effortless for me. Source: over 2 years ago
  • Budgeting vs. Tracking
Nova is great if you have multiple income streams or multiple cards to keep track of. Source: over 2 years ago
  • PSA for those who use YNAB: the price is going up from December
I use Nova to monitor my goals and expenses. I found their budgeting system works better for me because I just don’t want to budget as meticulously as YNAB asks. I set my goals & my essential bills, and then spend the rest on variable expenses as I see fit, but nova helps me keep track and stay with budget. So that might be a good alternative. It did take me a while to get used to, but once you’re past learning... Source: over 2 years ago

  • What is the best financial decision/choice you've ever made?
An app called Nova is what I used and motivated me to really understand my finances. I also find it helped me keep track of my budget more easily because it has a unique track feature. I’ve tried other apps as well like Emma, Plum but I wasn’t a fan. I know people who use spreadsheets as well, and that has worked for them. Source: over 2 years ago
  • AI Financial Planning and Savings App
We are Nova Money, a financial planning app that uses AI to help you set savings goals in order to grow your wealth and finances. Source: over 2 years ago
  • What are your tips for optimising your monthly spend (groceries, meals out etc)
I use an app called Nova for all my variable spending - including groceries, shopping, restaurant etc. It makes the budgeting part very easy because at the start of the month, I can input my income, then it already deducts the recurring bills and saving goals for the month aside, so the rest of your money (aka your budget) is what you’re tracking. Worth a try! Plus it’s free. Source: almost 3 years ago
  • Moving to the UK. What tools do I absolutely need to know to save money?
For personal finance, I use Nova - it’s a free app that helps you keep track of your spending. Every start of month I set a saving goal and it does the budgeting for me. Source: almost 3 years ago
