There's a bunch of replacements. I like https://newsblur.com but there are 4-6 large-ish similar sites. That said, partially what people miss is the relative cultural hegemony of Google Reader. For the actual program we mostly used The Lab introduction where you can inflate balloons and laser them. Since it shows you in a huge room it was cool.
