There's a bunch of replacements. I like https://newsblur.com but there are 4-6 large-ish similar sites. That said, partially what people miss is the relative cultural hegemony of Google Reader. Currently I'm on Newsblur. But it's really convoluted to Self host - to my "shame" I use their cloud hosted app with premium. It's (over)laden with features that I actually use and cheaper than for example Feedly. Source: 12 months ago

I had a friend teach me how to cook, I mean I basically observed her doing it and became fascinated by it. Cookbooks came later. I can't remember the titles unfortunately. But I do remember using supercook.com allrecipes.com and food52.com a lot. Rachel Ray also tends to be pretty beginner friendly I think. Source: about 1 year ago

David Lebovitz is one of the early, important food bloggers (as well as cookbook author, and Chez Panisse alum); he's now moving to a subscription substack, but the older content is still up on his website.
