Top 11 Best Dropbox Alternatives in 2020: Which Is The Most Secure?
MEGA used to give out a lot of free storage, but it has since started making most of it disappear after a few months. You can read the details about that in our MEGA review. Like the previous services on our list, it offers zero-knowledge encryption.
Dropbox Alternatives: 10 Best Cloud Storage Services
If you are someone who enjoys free services and still needs a little more storage than what’s provided by other cloud storage providers on the list, give Mega a try. The free version of Mega gives you access to a whopping 50 GB of free storage, which way more than what you get with Dropbox. Apart from a juicy free offering, Mega also supports end-to-end encryption. Like...

13 Best Free Dropbox Alternatives for File Sharing
Owncloud is not as such a cloud service, but a software to create our own. Owncloud allows us to take advantage of an old equipment or a service that we have to use it as if it were Dropbox.

Like Dropbox, this service will allow you to manage all elements from a browser tab. From it, you can manage them, divide them into folders, and even download them online. ownCloud is a synchronization tool and ‘backup’ file, which is especially useful for small and medium enterprises. Moreover, it is not only versatile and practical but also extremely safe.

  • MegaSync on linux slow and cpu high load
Also visit MEGA web site https://mega.nz and go to Menu -> Reload your account. - Source: Reddit / 18 days ago
  • Can anyone suggest a better file sharing website?
I'm trying to find a better alternative for mega.nz. It's a good file sharing website but the problem is that the leak that I upload there get taken down fast even after creating a new link. If you have any suggestion you can comment below. - Source: Reddit / 3 months ago
  • Ask HN: What are you using to replace shared iCloud Photos albums?
I have always used Mega[0]. It's real end to end encryption. [0] https://mega.nz/. - Source: Hacker News / 4 months ago
  • fake site?
Both mega.nz & mega.io are official domains for MEGA. MEGA's product, corporate and help pages will be delivered from the mega.io domain for users who aren't logged in. The .io domain reflects the global nature of MEGA, which currently has more than 200 million registered users in more than 215 countries / territories. The .io pages are more likely to be properly indexed by search engines than the current .nz... - Source: Reddit / 5 months ago

  • Any thoughts about 4privacy?
Nonetheless, the features look basically the same compared to ownCloud so 4privacy does seem like a duplicate project. Not sure what their business model will be (I don't think they know either yet) but owncloud is free for personal use on a self-hosted server. Owncloud also supports linux, 4privacy says linux support is "on the roadmap" which generally translates to "we'll do it if we get bored but probably wont". - Source: Reddit / about 1 month ago
  • Best way to map a network drive in Windows 10 over internet?
I would look into https://owncloud.com/ or https://nextcloud.com/. You basically create your own cloud storage service like Dropbox, but run your own server. - Source: Reddit / 3 months ago
  • Are there equivalents to iCloud on Linux?
I've looked around and I've found companies like nextCloud and ownCloud which offer cloud storage and on-premise hosting but I haven't found something that goes beyond that. - Source: Reddit / 4 months ago
  • Data usage / maxing out monthly ISP / POE Security cameras
For backups I guess it just depends. If I had a datacap problem I'd probably go with a NAS and only back stuff up to the cloud that are super important. Saying that'd I'd probably use ownCloud (self hosted) and encrypt the entire cloud backup and also integrate the cloud + NAS storage into one interface with it. - Source: Reddit / 4 months ago
  • I want to make my own software for own personal use(working on projects and etc.)
I believe what you are looking for is OwnCloud. You'll be able to write some plugins/apps for it that implement what you're looking for, and it would be a much better place to start than rolling your own from scratch. Security isn't something you can pick up in an afternoon, I'd highly suggest leaning on people who've already solved the hard problems. https://owncloud.com/. - Source: Reddit / 6 months ago
