Matterport 3D Showcase Reviews

  1. 4K and the best 3D Tours

Floorfy 3D tours are nowhere near how smooth Matterport ones are. The price is something to consider, but it is totally worth it.

    👍 Pros:    4k quality|Perfect color balance|Best movement between points|Better quality|Lidar|Different options and cameras|More realistic
    👎 Cons:    Higher price

  • Interactive Tour of James Clerk Maxwell's House
I have a friend in real estate who uses matterport [1] to do something similar to this. They have tools to do animations very close to what is happening here. Even the circular cursor looks similar. 1. https://matterport.com/. - Source: Hacker News / 5 months ago
  • Tips on renting out a high-end house?
I'm looking into creating virtual tours of the property - matterport.com $9.99 / month to host the tour, floor plan option $20. Source: 11 months ago
  • We 3D Scanned a Neat Alley in Canton, NC
This 360° camera and this online software plus a little editing magic. Source: 11 months ago
  • Real estate videographers: Potentially worrying or a time saving tool?
The real threat/opportunity is things like https://matterport.com/ where you create a 3D model of the property automagically - good enough to take dimensions from. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Best way to capture VR tour on Oculus?
I have an Insta 360 that takes amazing 360 photos and would like to do a "virtual tour" (similar to matterport.com) on an Oculus Quest 2 where I can interlink a number of 360 photos and allow someone a basic virtual experience. Source: about 1 year ago

  • Ask HN: What Are Your Hobbies?
Photography - Specifically, virtual focus synthetic aperture photography. I used to commute via the South Shore Railroad to Chicago, and had about 50 minutes each way with my laptop. Most days, I'd be processing photos. Some are aligned in a focal plane, some are aligned other ways. Here's an old gallery on Flickr.[2] I got into this after seeing a demo of Marc Levoy's work at Stanford, where the demo showed a... - Source: Hacker News / 4 months ago
  • I just can't believe that they don't know how it really works. This is just way too dim.
Go try Hugin. I have been involved with photography at many levels since 1974. You are wrong but since you have trust issues so try the method they used for a while and see how it works. Source: 11 months ago
  • Course or training for shooting panoramas
Adobe's Ps/Lr photomerge works for most folks, but can be kind of primitive vs. Dedicated stitching software if there are stitching errors you need to correct. If it fails you, you may want to also grab something like Hugin (open source). Source: about 1 year ago
  • Stereocubemaps in Oculus Quest 2
Not a perfect answer but If you convert your cubemaps into top/bottom pano splits you can view them using most of the vr viewer apps on the store. You can do this with hugin. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Ask HN: Which photographers do you admire?
Stand in one place, take several pictures as the person walks/rides across, then use Hugin[1] to align the images, and compost them into the final image with GIMP[2]. If you're more prepared, you could just use a tripod to skip the need for alignment. [1] https://hugin.sourceforge.io/ [2] https://www.gimp.org/. - Source: Hacker News / about 1 year ago
