In general, the cell bands used in the US are not supported by many Xiaomi and Redmi phones (not sure if any of them have good coverage of US bands). Check on gsmarena.com for the band coverage and then check your carrier's website for what bands they have service on. So if you want to download something from lets say, YouTube, the speed will be slightly different because now you're connecting to Google's server, not your ISP's server.
