Gridmapper VS Dungeon Painter

Well, there are dedicated mapping tools (generally paid software, such as Grid Cartographer on Steam, which is supposedly very nice for 2D grid maps), but personally, I have found the humble web-based Gridmapper best for Qud-diving purposes. Sometimes I will also use Gridmapper: https://campaignwiki.org/gridmapper.svg. It can map a few situations that Mipui cannot do, like doors on diagonal walls. It's quirky, but also rapid once you learn the keyboard controls. Source: about 1 year ago

There are some pretty good online tools out there for homemade maps which lift the look above wobbly pencil on graph paper. Two of my favourites are Gridmapper and Dungeon Scrawl. I'm sure others could suggest more. Source: over 1 year ago

Have you consider Gridmapper? This is not actually in Foundry but it really brings the feel of mapping using paper, it's not super hard to learn and it has collaboration tools for online play. Source: about 2 years ago

I used to dungeon painter online, then I bought dungeon painter studio because I liked the software. I still use DPS for my non-totm campaigns. Both are dead and not receiving updates now, though. Source: about 1 year ago

Best free option I've seen is Dungeon Painter Online (though flash is gone so have to download now). Dungeonscrawl is fantastically simple for sketching a quick dungeon. I've also used Inkarnate, Pymapper and some others I forget. The wiki has some recommendations. Source: almost 3 years ago

It's hard to beat Inkarnate for its raw capabilities in both world generation and map/dungeon design. And it has a free option. Obviously limited, but you get what you pay for in truth. Next for me would be the (potentially pricy, but very worth it) Caeora integrated into World Anvil. The complexity you can manifest is absolutely insane.
