To start seeds, a grow light will be a big help. For a basic setup, you can look for a fluorescent fixture and full spectrum bulbs or grow bulbs at a home improvement store (Lowe's/Home Depot/etc if you're in US). I grow in containers, for many years. Peppers need 1/4 sand mixed in and don't fertilize till they are flowering. If they are growing one stem, pinch off the top to get them to branch at about 9". One Basil is good for 12" pot. Tomatoes, I grow in 1 - 15 inch pot minimum. TOTEM and WINDOW BOX ROMA you may get away with 2. I put in two 500mg Calcium pills per plant for blossom end rot.
