Really informative post on how to do this "by hand"! I use https://trips.furkot.com (which is free) for this kind of trip planning. It is fantastic to determine how much stuff you can fit in a day, taking into account when you want to start/end your day, driving time, stops for food, time at any road-side attractions, overnight stays, ticketed events (to ensure you arrive on time), etc. It's an... - Source: Hacker News / 11 months ago
Route 3 makes the most sense. Keep mind some of the landmarks you listed for each city are far apart (ex, The Getty and the Getty Villa, Hearst Castle to PG). CA is huge and can be boring at some sections. I use this site https://trips.furkot.com to plan out my road trips. Expect to have to stay very, very, very far from city centers and transit connections or to pay $400+/night on a place. Don't be picky, just start looking now at both AirBnb and hotels (booking.com or expedia.com are the... Source: 12 months ago
So some fares can be priced differently depending on the region you select for purchasing. e.g. expedia.com vs expedia.ca vs expedia.co.jp. Source: about 1 year ago
