    Route 3 makes the most sense. Keep mind some of the landmarks you listed for each city are far apart (ex, The Getty and the Getty Villa, Hearst Castle to PG). I prefer to stop at the large truck stops along the way for bathroom breaks. I have snacks for the road such as trail mix, grapes and apples.
