  How long of a hike/walk? Bridle Trails is fantastic. Trilogy area of Redmond (Redmond Ridge) also has a ton of trails. I highly recommend the alltrails.com app or site. You can search by easy/moderate/hard and distance and using the map zoom into a specific area. Source: 10 months ago

  OH and use alltrails.com to look up trails you're interested in and see the latest conditions. If I were you, and people are saying there's an active bear on a trail I would avoid it since you are alone. You'll find some trails people mention not great visibility around some corners or due to huckleberry bushes...I'd avoid those too on your own. • Does anyone know when campsites get refreshed on recreation.gov? They open available at 7am pst, but what time should I check for reserved campsites that get canceled? Is that updated as soon as it’s canceled or the next day at 7am also?

  I’ve experienced the same frustration in California. I don’t think there’s much reselling as you can’t transfer a reservation in most places, but I have met some technical people who have built bots for themselves and friends. I remember when I was young and my mom would always refresh the reservation page every day and manage to find a site eventually when someone cancels. However this doesn’t happen much more as...   I have never done this personally, yet I have heard about people trying this to circumvent the system. In my opinion, this is the exact reason why its hard to find a site in the first place. It is a downward spiral. People are worried about getting a site/don't know when they can make it so they overbook, then this leads to more people doing the same until almost no one can reserve for their ideal dates.
