Campflare is a free service that will send you a text when someone cancels their campground reservation.
We need to talk about campground reservations. Bots and scalpers have plagued our National Parks and public lands by purchasing reservations as soon as they become available. Tech should not decide who and who doesn't get to enjoy the outdoors. It's time for a change. Regulation and captchas are not the solution — tech will always find a way around it. The only way to stop the scalpers is to drown them out. Campflare is a free service that will send you a text or email when a campground becomes available. It's free, and it always will be.
Https://campflare.com/ it will tell you when camp sites open up due to people dropping. It will send you a text and a email. There is also an app, that I like better. It’s all free. Source: 11 months ago

Use https://campflare.com/, it will text you when a site is opened due to cancellation. Source: about 1 year ago
I’ve experienced the same frustration in California. I don’t think there’s much reselling as you can’t transfer a reservation in most places, but I have met some technical people who have built bots for themselves and friends. I remember when I was young and my mom would always refresh the reservation page every day and manage to find a site eventually when someone cancels. However this doesn’t happen much more as... I have never done this personally, yet I have heard about people trying this to circumvent the system. In my opinion, this is the exact reason why its hard to find a site in the first place. It is a downward spiral. People are worried about getting a site/don't know when they can make it so they overbook, then this leads to more people doing the same until almost no one can reserve for their ideal dates. I would... Source: about 1 year ago
I used https://campflare.com a few times and it worked (you get notified when spots open up). Source: about 1 year ago
There's a website/service that can notify people of canceled campsites becoming available, but I'm frugal and avoid the ones that charge $, but Campflare is often recommended and bonus, it's free - https://campflare.com. Source: about 1 year ago
If you're open to camping, try to camp in the park. Each campground has some sites that become available for book two weeks in advance so you can still get into the Chisos Basin campground which is the one I recommend. If you can't get a campsite, try campflare.com to be notified if a site opens up due to cancellation. Chisos Mountain lodge is likely booked, but if it has openings, it's the best option for... Handy tip is to use a bot like https://campflare.com/. It will alert you when a spot opens. You will typically gets lots of alerts a month before you want to go, because people start canceling their reservations in the window that they can still get their money back. Source: over 1 year ago
Great advice in this thread. As said, shoot for as many devices as you can to increase your odds and refresh the page as soon as the clock hits. ALSO Make sure to check again after 15 minutes if you don't get a site right after release (campgrounds are held in peoples carts for ~15 minutes before other people can book them). Booking Yosemite campgrounds come down to luck in my opinion. If you don't get a site,... Source: over 1 year ago
Set up an alert on Campflare, the site will text you for free when someone cancels. I help run the site and we see 30% of Yosemite reservations get canceled. Source: over 1 year ago
This looks like a great trip overall. I am only familiar with the California part of your trip. However, there is likely a change in your trip if Highway 120 through Yosemite is not open (it is open typically early June to late October). I am unsure what your plans are here based on the map (looks like you may be going more north?). Anyways, I would go through Death Valley (maybe add the stop Alabama Hills right... I’ll pass along this tip. Use https://campflare.com to get a reservation! It will text you when someone cancels their reservation, which happens much more often than one would think (especially last minute). Try setting multiple alerts and set the number of nights to 1 for each alert for each campground which will increase your chances. Best of luck! Source: over 1 year ago
If you're having trouble booking a campground, set up an alert with Campflare. The site will text you for free when someone cancels their reservation so you can book it. Source: over 1 year ago
You'll need to reserve campsites on Recreation.gov. If none are availalbe for when you want to go, use https://campflare.com/ to receive notifications if/when someone cancels. I have had great results with campflare. I'll be there the Monday after Thanksgiving! Source: over 1 year ago
If you strike out and can not get a spot in the park there are also campgrounds in the national forests surrounding the park. The closest are about 1 hour from the Valley. There are also private campgrounds outside the park that are about the same distance. The park service has not announced yet if peak hours reservations are going to return for next year but they are much easier to get than camping reservations.... Source: over 1 year ago

Use https://campflare.com. The site will text you when someone cancels for free. I made the site for this reason. Good luck! Source: over 1 year ago

It’s totally possible to book a campsite in the valley with only a few days notice. Competition is fierce so you have to be quick. I decided to camp in the valley on the 27th like two days ago, so I used https://campflare.com and got a two night spot. There’s a bit of luck involved, but it’s totally doable.
