And, albert https://albertlauncher.github.io/ would be the default spotlight alternative, but in my experience it's not that snappy and doesn't behave exactly as you'd expect. Imo the default gnome search function is fine. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Albert launcher update!
It took quite some time, but after years of overhaul, testing, and patching I'd like to introduce Albert. New features (since 0.18) include an abstract plugin system, custom triggers, an API which got more developer friendly and of course feature rich for both C++ and Python plugins, plugins come with more features, search is even faster, UI is nicer, Qt6, C++20… Give it a try and let me know what you think. You could try using SwiftSearch to see if you can find the files somewhere in your computer. It too believe that it was probably win defender being funny and simply deleted every trace of it though. Source: over 1 year ago
  • LPT: Frustrated by a slow Windows search? Go to your Control Panel and open "Indexing Options", then click Modify. It's possible your C: drive has not been indexed. Index your files and you searches will be instant.
SwiftSearch is an awesome app that loads the whole NTFS table in on all connected drive, and searches virtually instantly. Source: almost 3 years ago
  • LPT: On Windows machines, in "indexing options" set it to your entire hard drive(s). This will greatly increase the speed of searching for files.

I'd use a file system wide search tool like everything or wizfile or swiftsearch or whatever other tool you prefer and look for those files as if multiple profiles are in use they might be somewhere else. Source: about 3 years ago
