Trying to adapt to many confusing features that you do not even use in a powerful project management tool will distract you from taking quick actions. • The case for an Agenda-Oriented UpNote: drawing inspiration from competitors
While exploring similar apps in the market (I recently got an iPhone XS), I stumbled upon two competitors that caught my attention: Agenda (https://agenda.com/) and Noteplan (https://noteplan.co/). Both these apps offer some remarkable features that, if integrated into UpNote, could take it to the next level. • Note Taking Solution for Information Overload!
Specific solutions would vary based on what OS you use. If you use a Mac, I would strongly suggest looking at NotePlan. Agenda is a competitor and Mac only as well. Source: 12 months ago
  • Are subscriptions the doom of the tech sector?
Subscriptions for simple usage only make sense for a true service with an ongoing cost to the provider; cloud storage, email, movie streaming, etc. A subscription for a general-purpose application is incongruous; you’re purchasing a finished product with no ongoing costs, like a pair of shoes or a book, and it should cost a one-off fee that reflects the cost that went into producing it. What subscriptions are... - Source: Hacker News / about 1 year ago

  • This is why I always come back to using Apple Notes over everything else.
I also tried Agenda which looked like a great alternative to noteplan, but it didn’t really “click” for me. The app is really well made and polished, and the developer actively maintains it, but still the way it works doesn’t tick my boxes. Source: over 1 year ago

Airtable mentions (129)

  • Growing a side-project to 100k Unique Visitors in one week
For the backend, I opted for Airtable as a database. It's a simple, no-code solution that I've used before. It's not the most powerful database, but it's perfect for a project like this. I could easily add, edit, and delete records, and it has an embeddable form functionality that I used for user submissions. - Source: dev.to / about 2 months ago

  • How to generate links to a record to view it in an Interface?
The ?XXXXX part of the URL identifies the type of interface page it is. Just copy that and then your formula is just "https://airtable.com.../...?XXXXXX=" & RECORD_ID() I'm not sure it works in every type of interface page (where you've started from a blank page for example). There has to be something to identify the record viewed from the page, if you see what I mean. Source: 8 months ago
