Nowadays I just load up freebie bandcamps and rip from mixcloud and hearthis.at at random, and I deliberately ignore song titles and artists -- it's more where I got it, and I try to fix it so I forget where I got things. The less I know about what I'm listening to the more I enjoy it. I let last.fm tell me what are my favourites, and it's not just the newest wave (as opposed to the old geriatric stuff from the 70's and 80's) or EDM -- it extends to absolutely every kind of music I can think of that is not pushed by the Big Three -- you could say I'm not having those CEO's tell me what's good -- that's a job for my ears.

One of the best things I ever got was from archive.org .... it's an art gallery type thing from the 80's called "White Colours -- Neoism Now!" Check that out because that's something truly different. It wasn't made to be sold -- it was made to be given.
