Useful site: https://nomoregoogle.com What I like to use instead of Google stuff: Browser: - Firefox (https://www.mozilla.org/en-GB/firefox/) - if I want to set it up, takes a bit of time (https://www.privacytools.io/browsers/#about_config) - Brave (https://brave.com) - good out of the box, only a few clicks to disable telemetry - Vivaldi (https://vivaldi.com) - not completely open-source but I trust them enough to use it with a few extensions (similar to the ones for firefox) and turning off google things Search Engine: DuckDuckGo (https://duckduckgo.com) - Uses Bing results. Very nice, really nice instant answers, not very good with non-english results. I've changed my way of searching things to fit DDG better. The !bangs(https://duckduckgo.com/bang?q=) feature is amazing, allows you to search in >13k sites quickly. StartPage (https://startpage.com) - Uses Google results. I use it if DDG doesn't give me what I need, so once or twice a day. A bit too slow for me and I think the company behind them had some controversies (System1 iirc). Searx instance (https://searx.ir/) - Uses results from different search engines. You can self-host, I haven't done that personally since I don't like how it looks and it's too slow for me. https://privacytools.io has a good instance. Email: Protonmail (https://protonmail.com) - That's the one I use, like it more than gmail, has (d, not in the beta for now) support for custom css built in so you can customize it however you want. Has free version and also paid version I'll add a few more later when I have time, hope this helps. Almost everything on the list is open source btw.
