If you want the best bang for buck hexmapping software, I prefer Worldographer. Its really great for hex maps. But its the "80's look". Source: 11 months ago
I use Worldographer (and its predecessor, Hexographer). There's a free version, so you can try it without spending money. Source: 11 months ago
Hi all! Recommended by a video game design book I discovered this software https://worldographer.com/ free to use, to design prototypes of levels for video games. I downloaded and tried it, looks correct but I would like to know about any best option, maybe any other where apart from designing the level you can also place units in the map and perhaps create interactions between them...Do you know any video game... I don't think Worldographer (https://worldographer.com/) gets as much love as it should. World/area hex maps, city/town/village maps, dungeon maps, battlemaps, it can do it all. It's also a one-time purchase, rather than ongoing service pricing; which I vastly prefer. Source: about 1 year ago
Worldographer is the first thing that comes to mind. Source: about 1 year ago

Worldographer can create completely generated town maps, but I personally don't think they look good--and I'm not sure if they're easy to export as an image file. Source: over 1 year ago
Random Dungeon Generation Dice. Inkwell Ideas, the people behind worldographer have a series of "DungeonMorph Dice" you can buy on amazon and some gaming sites. They also make dungeon morph cards for random dungeon generation. Cool if you need to generate it at the table on the fly. Plug here for https://davesmapper.com/ if you are at your PC as a great random map site. Source: over 1 year ago
Then there' s Worldographer (https://worldographer.com/). I have only ever used the free version but I hear good things. Source: over 1 year ago
Worldographer could do this pretty easily, though it is paid software: https://worldographer.com/. Source: almost 2 years ago
First up is Worldographer, which has a downloadable Free version where you can generate or create hex-based World/Region maps, settlements, up to 5000 people population and dungeons (square grid). Plus a cosmic sector/subsector generator. The pro version has options for larger settlements, battlemap generation and more features. Source: almost 2 years ago
Inkarnate is great. I'd recommend looking into Wonderdraft, Dungeondraft, and maybe Hexographer too. I used Hexographer (the precursor to Worldographer) for a D&D campaign and I've fiddled a bit with Dungeondraft. I haven't used Wonderdraft, but it's by the same person as Dungeondraft, and I liked Dungeondraft enough that I'd recommend it. Source: almost 2 years ago
