I've been issued a Mac Laptop for work, and for the first 2 months by far the #1 issue for me was the alt-tabbing. I've been successfully using Witch to restore normal window-tabbing (in place of application-tabbing): https://manytricks.com/witch/ Unfortunately after MacOS ~Vista~ Catalina you still need to grant Witch permissions for each application you're alt-tabbing to that Witch hasn't seen yet, but... - Source: Hacker News / 6 days ago
Witch is another option with extensive options. - Source: Reddit / 3 months ago
Another option is Witch, switch between apps, tabs, windows, or all three. I've used it a couple times. - Source: Reddit / 5 months ago
You might be interested in Witch instead. Or, honestly, if you haven’t checked out all the various things Exposé can do these days, you might want to do a quick tour. - Source: Reddit / 7 months ago
If you find yourself missing alt tab to switch by windows, check out Contexts, Witch, or the aptly named AltTab as an alternative window switcher. - Source: Reddit / 8 months ago
Have a look at an app called Witch. I've been using it forever and highly recommend it. You can configure it to cycle through all windows without having to specifically select an app first, which I guess is what you're after. You can also choose if you want to bring to front the entire app or just the individual window you're switching to. There are plenty of other options to customize its behavior. - Source: Reddit / 9 months ago
– Contexts/Witch/AltTab as an alternative window switcher. - Source: Reddit / 10 months ago
Given this isn't free anyway, you could have both behaviors with a single app Witch (https://manytricks.com/witch). - Source: Hacker News / 11 months ago
I paid for Witch and have been pretty happy with it [1]. Only issue is very occasionally the MacOS switcher and the Witch switcher both appear and fight for control. [1] https://manytricks.com/witch/. - Source: Hacker News / 11 months ago
There is a way to get little previews in the Command+Tab feature if you use Witch from https://manytricks.com/witch/. - Source: Reddit / 11 months ago
Yeah, one or more of these will do the trick! These apps enhance the app/window/tab switching experience. Witch Alt-Tab Contexts. - Source: Reddit / 12 months ago
Witch – Multiple flexible switchers with search. - Source: Reddit / about 1 year ago
I've recently been testing out some command-tab app switchers to see which works best, and have really enjoyed Contexts and Witch. I like the feel of Contexts more (it feels native), but Witch has the ability to view, search, and switch directly to any tab in any window. For instance, I can open a specific tab of Safari using Witch whereas with Contexts I need to first open the Safari window that holds the tab,... - Source: Reddit / about 1 year ago
I use witch instead: https://manytricks.com/witch/ it’s really nice to be able to define the behavior of the window. - Source: Reddit / about 1 year ago
To compare, Bartender charges $15 USD while you charge $3 USD/year. Bartender however only charges these for individual versions (though it does give discounts on new versions if you have an old one), so you would need a subscriber for 5 years to get similar procing. A similar app: witch (https://manytricks.com/witch/) also charges I think around 15 USD. - Source: Reddit / about 1 year ago
I just switched to Mac from Windows. I've been able to regain some window management functions of window snapping via Rectangle and window switching via Witch (perfect except for a small delay). In Windows, I had a set of apps pinned to the taskbar, so that WIN+1, 2, 3, 4, 5 were bound to my most often used apps. I work with text across multiple programs, so I like to be able to switch faster than CMD+TAB and... - Source: Reddit / over 1 year ago
Witch (https://manytricks.com/witch/) has an option that allows you to treat tabs as if they’re windows, but over time I’ve found Witch more and more buggy and gave up on using it, which is such a shame. - Source: Hacker News / over 1 year ago
This used to work. Haven't used it in a while tho. https://manytricks.com/witch/. - Source: Reddit / over 1 year ago

Not built in, but: https://manytricks.com/witch/ Gives you the best of both worlds. - Source: Hacker News / almost 2 years ago
What you want is called a “macos application switcher” or “macos window switcher”. The most recent app I’ve used is Contexts https://contexts.co/ and another app is command-tab plus https://noteifyapp.com/command-tab-plus/ . Back in the day I used to use Witch https://manytricks.com/witch/ so there’s three options. - Source: Reddit / about 2 years ago
