Also check out the Chillout Mixer on turntable.fm. Vaporwave was born on that website and you'll find a lot of quality leads there. Source: almost 2 years ago
Definitely the other way around. Listening to smooth jazz in coffee shops lead me to chillout and downtempo, and when my daughter was born I didn't have as much time to DJ in bars so I filled the gap by hanging out in chillout rooms on turntable.fm, where vaporwave began to spread. A great place to find more music like this is the Chillout Mixer on turntable.fm. It's a chat room with virtual DJs that pull music from soundcloud and youtube to share b2b with the room. There are some guys there that are really into this genre. Source: almost 2 years ago
Hello folks! 5-6 years ago there was bunch of people taking turns on playing underground/not well known electronica music thru various websites such as turntable.fm. The group was called the "The Underground" I have lost my connection there and I dont know where they are and how I can find them. Anyone has any info? Source: almost 2 years ago
But yes, JQBX shutting down fucked with the timing. We should do something for the year end although I'm not sold on either alternative yet. I just found turntable.fm which seems to be a youtube alternative and maybe the way to go? Source: about 2 years ago
Https://www.jqbx.fm/ Is a good site to listen to and share music with others if you have Spotify. An alternative if you don’t have Spotify is https://turntable.fm/. - Source: Hacker News / over 2 years ago
Https://turntable.fm is a lot of fun but not your traditional style of mixing, basically 1-5 DJs rotate picking 1 YouTube or SoundCloud track each. Still pretty fun though because there are chat rooms and some rooms have themes or games, like picking songs with fruit in their name, etc. Source: over 2 years ago
I've known of people using Youtube videos to make playlists at https://turntable.fm/ and streaming that into SL. Also just stream long mixes on Youtube and stream right into SL. Sometimes even acting like it's their own mix. Source: over 2 years ago
Head over to the Chillout Mixer on turntable.fm. This is precisely the music they spin there. Source: over 2 years ago
Do you feel there may be cultural appropriation of Asian people in general as well? I honestly felt that with so much use of Japanese characters that many vaporwave artists were Asian, though I realize now I was wrong. Vaporwave has evolved quite a bit since the turntable.fm days. You thinking of turntable.fm maybe? Sadly it's dead. Source: over 2 years ago
The riff that starts at 11secs reminds me of a guitar plucking type song that was popular in; I wanna say 2010/2011. That was the time I was "DJ'ing" on Turntable.fm, the golden age. Anyways there was this guitar song with fast plucking that came up a lot back then that this linked song reminds me of. Source: almost 3 years ago
I used to hang out in some electronic music rooms in turntable.fm if anyone remembers that. From there I found some drum and bass songs and that's pretty much all I've listened to since. Source: almost 3 years ago
Why not use https://turntable.fm ? Which is not buggy and actually works and has actual users? Source: almost 3 years ago
Doing a turntable room may be a cool idea, and less invasive into peoples homes...https://turntable.fm/. Source: about 3 years ago
There was/is a website called Turntable.fm. Under the chill room is where I first heard the first IDM song that I can remember. Fear Of Corners by Dntel. I loved it So much so that I started developing a moniker under the title of the song that I first heard. Currently for the past year and a half I’ve been working on developing my own music under that same name. Source: about 3 years ago
I also know of beatsense (https://www.beatsense.com/), turntable.fm, and plug.dj (which is no longer available). Source: about 3 years ago
If you don't know, turntable.fm is basically the same thing, you make a playlist of youtube videos, have avatars, can chat, have chat bots, what not. I prefer this type of deal over discord rooms. I'm resurrecting the old Digital Arcade room. Feel free to drop in and listen to some sweet video game music, play some of your own and hang out. I'd love to see it popular again. Man I remember him from the old turntable.fm days, (if you’re reading this I was TheEyesMind on there) he must be an adult now, I wonder what he is up to. Source: about 3 years ago
Any of you remember turntable.fm? Was a really good site back in its hey-day... Now its a mess... But anyway, had a really strong community of music-lover friends and musicians there. I ended up traveling around the country to meet up with several different groups to go to concerts. All around great times. Source: over 3 years ago
